No Surrender Preview & Predictions

No Surrender Preview & Predictions

No Surrender comes to us live this Sunday from the Impact Zone in Orlando, FL.  With the TNA World Championship vacated, two semi-final matches will take place to see who will face off for the title next month at Bound for Glory.  The feud between EV2 and Fortune also continues and the Motorcity Machine Guns defend their Tag Team Championships.

- Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy (TNA World Championship Tournament Semi-Finals)
- Mr. Anderson vs. D’Angelo Dinero (TNA World Championship Tournament Semi-Finals)
- The Motorcity Machine Guns vs. London Brawling (TNA Tag Team Championship)
- AJ Styles vs. Tommy Dreamer (I Quit Match)
- Kevin Nash & Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett & Samoa Joe
- Douglas Williams vs. Sabu (TNA X Division Championship)
- Abyss vs. Rhino (Falls Count Anywhere)
- Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne

Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Hardy (TNA World Championship Tournament Semi-Finals)
Rob Van Dam was forced to vacate the TNA World Championship after being put on the shelf by a brutal attack at the hands of Abyss.  Kurt Angle and Jeff Hardy won their respective quarterfinal matches and will now face off in the semi-finals.  Angle has also stated that he will still retire if he loses a match on the way to becoming TNA World Champion.

It really is a shame that this isn’t the main event for Bound for Glory as I feel it would give the fans a memorable match, however, it is stuck on this pay-per-view and doesn’t have nearly as much going for it.  At any rate, this match should be great and will probably steal the show.  In the end, Kurt Angle will pick up the win and continue on to Bound for Glory.

Starman’s Prediction: Kurt Angle to win and advance to Bound for Glory.

Mr. Anderson vs. D’Angelo Dinero (TNA World Championship Tournament Semi-Finals)
Same scenario and background as the match listed above, just with different wrestlers.  One could say that TNA went this route for the tournament as these two have had their differences in the past.  While it is compelling, I still feel TNA dropped the ball as these two could have picked up their feud after losing their semi-final matches at No Surrender.  Alas, that is not possible.

In the recent past we have seen Mr. Anderson talk about respecting Kurt Angle, although I’m not sure where that respect was during their brutal and bloody feud a few months ago.  TNA seems to be leaning towards an Anderson/Angle match at Bound for Glory, so I am going to say that Anderson is going to win this match and advance to BFG.

Starman’s Prediction: Mr. Anderson to win and go on to Bound for Glory.

The Motorcity Machine Guns vs. London Brawling (TNA Tag Team Championship)
The Motorcity Machine Guns went through a huge Best of Five series against Beer Money to retain their TNA Tag Team Championships and are now moving on to another team in the tag team ranks.  Instead of facing a team such as Team 3D, Ink Inc., or Generation Me, they will take on the new top contenders, London Brawling.

Who exactly?  Yeah, sort of caught me off guard as well.  I guess London Brawling, who consists of Desmond Wolfe and Magnus, have been tearing up the tag team division on Xplosion, a program that almost nobody watches.  Wolfe and Magnus have been featured a tiny bit on Impact, but not nearly enough to get fans interested in this match.

The Motorcity Machine Guns win easily here, folks.  Oh, an I expect Chelsea will have some sort of effect on this match and may very well leave with the Machine Guns after it is all said and done.

Starman’s Prediction: The Motorcity Machine Guns to retain the TNA Tag Team Championship.

AJ Styles vs. Tommy Dreamer (I Quit Match)
The members of Fortune took offense to the EV2 reunion thinking that they have been stealing their spotlight and tried to show them the door after a brutal beat down.  EV2 hasn’t gone anywhere, though, in fact, a few of them were even given TNA contracts from Dixie Carter.  The two mouthpieces for each faction will now face off in an I Quit match.

Much like how the Main Event Mafia took a clean sweep during the 2009 Hard Justice pay-per-view, I feel that Fortune will do much of the same at No Surrender, but on a smaller scale.  It would be unwise for TNA to allow AJ Styles to lose an I Quit match against Tommy Dreamer, especially at this point in time.  Styles should walk away with an easy victory here.

Starman’s Prediction: AJ Styles to make Tommy Dreamer say “I quit.”

Kevin Nash & Sting vs. Jeff Jarrett & Samoa Joe
For some reason or another, Kevin Nash and Sting feel that they are being screwed over by TNA management.  Jeff Jarrett thinks Nash and Sting are being selfish and greedy and are trying to tear down everything that the young guys in TNA built up.  Hulk Hogan is also siding with Jarrett, but due to his physical limitations, Jarrett has recruited Samoa Joe to help fight for his cause.

Samoa Joe is the wild card in this match as he made it abundantly clear that he fights for no one except himself.  I could see Joe costing Jarrett this match just for the sole reason of not giving a damn, which I feel most of the TNA fanbase is thinking about this whole feud.  Due to this factor, I have to give the edge to Nash & Sting, who will be working together as a solid, albeit old, unit.

Starman’s Prediction: Kevin Nash & Sting to win the match.

Douglas Williams vs. Sabu (TNA X Division Championship)
Not much aside from the beat down of EV2 went into this match, but Douglas Williams will be going up against Sabu for the X Division Championship.  As I stated before, I feel that Fortune will earn a clean sweep at No Surrender to solidify their dominance, and this match is no exception.  This will be a fun match to watch, but Douglas Williams will win the match to retain the X Division Championship.

Starman’s Prediction: Douglas Williams to retain the TNA X Division Championship.

Abyss vs. Rhino (Falls Count Anywhere)
Although Abyss has sided against the EV2 faction, he has denied having any association with Fortune.  While that may or may not have any truth to it, I still feel that Abyss will be part of the clean sweep over EV2 at No Surrender.  Abyss took an embarrassing loss to Stevie Richards this past Thursday on Impact and I don’t think he will lose a second match in a row to another EV2 member.  A falls count anywhere match plays to both Abyss’ and Rhino’s strengths, but Abyss will come out on top here.

Starman’s Prediction: Abyss to win the match.

Velvet Sky vs. Madison Rayne
These two former Beautiful People partners will go at it in a grudge match.  Friction between these two started when Madison began to show a little too much ego while she was the TNA Knockouts Champion.  Velvet then became reacquainted with her former Beautiful People partner, Angelina Love, and assisted her in defeating Madison for the Knockouts Championship.  Madison wasn’t alone, though, as she has brought back Tara as her hired bodyguard.

I can almost guarantee you that this match will have some sort of interference from both sides, and possibly from Lacey Von Erich, who hasn’t been seen nor heard from in a while.  Madison needs the victory here, though, to regain some momentum as I feel she will most likely be challenging Angelina for the Knockouts Championship at Bound for Glory.

There is the No Surrender preview in a nutshell.  All in all, it seems to have a few bright spots on paper, but it seems to be more of a stepping stone and preview to next month’s Bound for Glory pay-per-view, as evident by only a pair of title matches on the card.  This is probably for the best, though, as Bound for Glory is the biggest event for TNA and it seems they got a little off track with last month’s Hardcore Justice.  This won’t be the worst event of the year, but it certainly doesn’t rank as one of the best either.
