Victory Road Recap

Quick results for the Victory Road pay-per-view.

Match 1: Douglas Williams vs. Brian Kendrick (Ultimate X for X Division Championship)
Although Douglas Williams revealed he has a fear of heights, Williams begins making his way across the Ultimate X cable towards the X Division Championship.  Brian Kendrick goes after Williams and wraps his legs around the champion before pulling them both down from the cables.  Kendrick takes the brunt of the fall and Williams puts Kendrick in a submission choke hold until the referee calls for the bell.

Match 2: Brother Ray vs. Jesse Neal vs. Brother Devon
Brother Devon was locked in the locker room for a good portion of the match.  Once Devon made it to the ring, he went toe-to-toe with Brother Ray as the former ECW wrestlers looked on from the stands.  Jesse Neal then went for a spear on Ray but missed and hit Devon instead.  Ray then hit Neal with a Bubba Bomb to pick up the pin fall as the ECW wrestlers cheered him on from the stands.

Match 3: Madison Rayne vs. Angelina Love (TNA Knockouts Championship vs. Career)
After some back and forth action between Angelina Love and Madison Rayne a mysterious woman rides a motorcycle up the ramp and towards the ring.  The woman, who is wearing a motorcycle helmet, sends Angelina into the steel ring post and the referee calls for the bell.  Due to the match stipulation, Angelina is awarded the Knockouts Championship even though it was never revealed if it was one of the Beautiful People behind the interference.

Match 4: AJ Styles & Kazarian vs. Samoa Joe & Rob Terry
Samoa Joe and Rob Terry were revealed to be the mystery opponents and worked well together in the opening moments of the match.  Joe then tries for a muscle buster on Kazarian but Desmond Wolfe runs down to the ringside area and pulls Joe out to the floor.  This gives Styles and Kazarian an opening for a springboard forearm and springboard leg drop double team move on Terry.  Styles then hits a springboard 450 splash to pick up the pin fall.  Styles and Kazarian briefly celebrate the victory after the match and Joe gets revenge on Wolfe by taking him out with a muscle buster.

Match 5: Matt Morgan vs. Hernandez (Steel Cage Match)
Morgan busted Hernandez open and started to exit the cage but decided against it and went back in.  Hernandez began to mount a comeback and climbed up to the top of the cage but missed with a splash.  Morgan then used the missed opportunity to handcuff Hernandez to the ring ropes and started climbing to the top of the cage.  Hernandez, though, busted out of the cuffs and dove through the cage door and onto the floor to win the match.

Match 6: Ric Flair vs. Jay Lethal
Ric Flair worked over Jay Lethal’s knee and locked him in the figure four and uses the ropes for leverage until the referee sees what is happening and makes him break the hold.  Flair then tries to wear Lethal down with a sleeper hold but Lethal fought his way out and begins to focus on Flair’s knee.  Lethal then locks Flair in a figure four of his own and makes Flair tap out to his own signature move.  Lethal then celebrates the victory as Flair gets in the face of Earl Hebner.

Match 7: Beer Money vs. the Motorcity Machine Guns (TNA Tag Team Championship)
The two tag teams fought and picked up plenty of near falls while the fans let out a “this is awesome” chant.  The two teams each scored a pin fall during a double pin with two referees but since there wasn’t a decisive winner, the match was restarted.  Soon after the match begins again the Motorcity Machine Guns hit a series of double team moves on Robert Roode to pick up the pin fall and win the TNA Tag Team Championship for the first time.

Match 8: Kurt Angle vs. D’Angelo Dinero (Contenders Battle)
Kurt Angel and D’Angelo Dinero went back and forth to start this match out.  The Pope picked up a near fall after hitting a facebuster but Angle came back and scored a near fall of his own after taking the Pope down with an Angle Slam.  Angle then put Dinero in an ankle lock but is countered with a rollup by Dinero for another near fall.  The Pope then goes for a sunset flip but Angle counters into another ankle lock and makes Dinero tap out.  Angle then helped Dinero to his feet and shook hands before leaving the ring.

Match 9: Rob Van Dam vs. Mr. Anderson vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Abyss (TNA World Championship)
Anderson, Hardy and Abyss all scored near falls on each other with the third person breaking up the pin attempt.  Anderson and Hardy then went at it with Hardy hitting Anderson with a Twist of Fate followed by a Swanton Bomb.  Abyss then grabbed Hardy and chokeslammed him onto Anderson and covered both of them as RVD hit a Five Star Frog Splash and covered Anderson to pick up the pin fall and retain the TNA World Championship.  Abyss then grabbed his nail board and took a swing at RVD but missed as he rolled out of the way as the Victory Road PPV came to a close.
