Taking It to the Streets (4/12 Impact Recap)

Taking It to the Streets (4/12 Impact Recap)

Jeff Jarrett’s music hits as he comes down to the ring with a microphone.  Jarrett says TNA stands for Total Nonstop Action and he isn’t going to talk about kicking Sting’s ass to get an answer out of him, he is going to act on kicking his ass and he is going to do it right now.

Jarrett leaves the ring and heads for the rafters and attacks Sting from behind.  Jarrett sends Sting down the rafter steps and tells Sting that he wants an answer tonight as to why Sting has joined up with Team Flair.  The two fight their way to the ringside area and into the ring where the lights finally go out in the Impact Zone.  When they come back up, Sting is standing behind Jarrett and nails him with a baseball bat.

Jeff Hardy’s music hits as the rest of Team Hogan runs out to the ring to help their partner and chase Sting out of the ring.  We then head to Jeremy Borash who is standing by with the rest of Team Flair.

Ric Flair says Sting laying out Jeff Jarrett will be an example of what will happen the rest of the night.  Flair then goes on to say that he hates Hulk Hogan’s guts and will destroy Hulkamania in St. Louis at Lockdown.  The rest of the team gets a bit of microphone time and talk about destroying certain members of Team Hogan tonight.  AJ Styles even gets in a few words about the Pope where he says he will beat the ever living piss out of him in a tag team match tonight.

The announce team runs down tonight’s card that will feature Velvet Sky take on Angelina Love in a Leather & Lace match while Abyss & the Pope will team up to take on AJ Styles & Desmond Wolfe.  The announce team is then interrupted by Team 3D’s music.

Brother Ray gets on the microphone and says that he just got out of Hulk Hogan’s office and their scheduled match against the Band has turned into a New York City Street Fight and that match is up next.

Match 1: Team 3D & Jesse Neal vs. the Band (NYC Street Fight)
We return for the commercial break to see this match already in progress with weapons strewed about the ring.  Team 3D is in control and are beating the hell out of the Band with trash can lids and kendo sticks and, yes, even a plunger.  Ray and Neal hold Scott Hall’s legs open for a flying head butt and Ray calls for the tables.  Ray sets up a table in the ring but Bubba the Love Sponge runs out and causes a distraction allowing Syxx-Pac to hit the X-Factor through the table from the middle rope.

Eric Young then runs down to the ring and puts an end to the Band’s celebration and chases them out of the ring with a hockey stick.  EY then challenges Nash to a steel cage match at Lockdown and says that he is going to get righteous.

Christy meets up with Hulk Hogan in the back and he says Team Hogan has been beat up pretty bad, but his team will show what they are all about in Lethal Lockdown.  Eric Bischoff is then caught in the back talking with Ric Flair.   Hogan stops Bischoff as he walks by and Hogan wants to talk to Bischoff about it in his office later on.

Match 2: Shannon Moore vs. Kazarian
The bell rings and these two lock up and go back and forth in the early moments of the match.  The two seem to be using a more technical wrestling style as opposed to the usual high flying style of the X Division.  Moore and Kazarian work each other over with hip tosses and arm bars but Moore does pick up a pin attempt with a cross body block from the middle rope.

Kazarian is able to send Moore out to the floor and continues on the attack before rolling him back in and hitting a springboard leg drop.  Douglas Williams is seen walking out to get a closer look at his Lockdown opponents and joins the announce team.  Back to the match, Kazarian is wearing Moore down as Williams says that he is a champion because he is a technical wrestler, not a person who should be performing on Dancing with the Stars like most of the wrestlers in the X Division.

Back to the match, Moore gets back into the match with a series of clotheslines and dropkicks before hitting Kazarian with a moonsault off the middle rope and onto the floor.  Moore rolls Kazarian back in and nearly puts the match away after hitting a top rope hurricanrana but Kazarian kicks out of the pin attempt.  Moore and Kaz go back and forth with a series of near falls but the time limit expires as the match is a draw.

The crowd chants “let them fight” as the two shake hands in the middle of the ring.  Douglas Williams then gets on the microphone and runs down the two of them and says he is going to put an end to the X Division nonsense once and for all as the two chase Williams to the back.

Jeremy Borash is with Velvet Sky who says that she is cashing in her open TNA contract for a Leather & Lace match against Angelina Love.  Velvet says that she is not challenging for the title tonight as it will be on the line at Lockdown in their tag team match.  As for tonight, Velvet will strip Angelina down to her underwear and prove to TNA who the real beauty is.

Hulk Hogan is in the office with Eric Bischoff and Hogan says Bischoff crossed the line by going against everything he said while he was gone.  Bischoff says he deals with things his own way and Hogan knows that.  As for Flair, Bischoff is trying to get an inside edge for Team Hogan as they have had their asses handed to them in the past few weeks.

Eric Bischoff leaves the office and Jay Lethal walks in.  Lethal says Hogan needs to pull the plug on the Band and they should join lace up the boots one more time as the Mega Powers.  Hogan says they will join up after Lockdown if he can find his yellow tights and that it is the best idea he has heard all day.  Lethal says he will go on the search as Hogan sits down in his chair and looks up to the ceiling.

Jeremy Borash is backstage with Angelina Love and she says that she is a wrestler and would have chosen to be in a wrestling match, not a joke match like a leather and lace match.  She still plans on proving that she is the best women’s wrestler in the business and Tara comes in the picture.  Tara asks how she can be the best after winning her title in a box and JB reminds them that they are partners at Lockdown.

Christy is backstage with D’Angelo Dinero and Abyss who are in career defining matches at Lockdown.  Dinero says it is put up or shut up time for the Pope but he confident in his match against AJ Styles.  Abyss steps in and says that they have Styles and Desmond Wolfe right where they want them and says that it will take a lot more than a fire extinguisher to take him out.

Match 3: Angelina Love vs. Velvet Sky (I Quit Match)
Prior to the match, Velvet Sky says this will not be a leather and lace match, but it will instead be Angelina handcuffed and Velvet spanking her ass.  Slick Johnson begins to handcuff Angelina as we head into a commercial break.

Angelina starts kicking Velvet as soon as she enters the ring but Velvet takes her out with the Knockouts Championship to the head.  Velvet then grabs the microphone and announces that it will be an I Quit match.  Velvet begins to beat down Angelina but Angelina refuses to say I quit.

Velvet begins to strip the clothes off Angelina as the rest of the Beautiful People come to the ring to join in on the attack.  Tara comes running out to help her Lockdown partner and chases the Beautiful People away.  Tara unlocks the handcuffs and Angelina offers her hand for a handshake but Tara just walks away as this I Quit match ends in a no contest.

We immediately head to Christy where Abyss has been laid out in the parking lot.  Christy says that all she knows is that a car sped off quickly and will hopefully have more information shortly.

After a commercial break, Christy confirms that Abyss has indeed been hit by a car but he is conscious and is talking to Hulk Hogan.

Jeremy Borash is with Matt Morgan who says that “we” don’t need anybody but TNA management wants “them” to find a new partner.  Morgan says they play by the rules and announces Amazing Red as the new partner and says they are a match made in heaven as he has the size and strength and Red has the speed and quickness.  All Red needs to do, though, is set up the Motorcity Machine Guns for the Carbon Footprint.

Match 4: The Motorcity Machine Guns vs. Matt Morgan & Amazing Red (TNA Tag Team Championship)
Morgan toys with the Guns in the early going of the match and powers them around the ring.  Morgan tosses both Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley out to the floor as we head into a commercial break. We return to the match to see Amazing Red in the match and is using his quickness against the Guns.  Sabin, though, is able to punt Red’s head from the ring apron and takes him out.

Sabin rolls Red back in the ring and tries to pick up the pin fall but Red kicks out.  Morgan then drags Red back into his corner while the referee is busy with the Guns and tags himself into the match.  Morgan then powers the Guns around the ring but the double team effort of the Guns turns the tide of the match in their favor.

Red is tagged back into the match and distracts the Guns enough to allow Morgan to nail Sabin with a clothesline.  Morgan sets Sabin up for the Hellevator but Red hits the Code Red on Shelley to pick up the pin fall for his team.  Red takes one of the tag team belts before Morgan shakes his hand and nails him with a kick to the gut.  Morgan says they are his belts and sets Red up against the ring post but the Guns pull him away before Morgan is able to inflict any more punishment on Red.

Christy joins us in the parking lot once again and says that there is surveillance footage of what happened to Abyss and it will be aired once we return from the commercial break.  When we return, Christy says that Abyss is okay and is the way to the hospital as the footage is aired.  It shows that Abyss was in fact hit by a car and it looks like Desmond Wolfe was the person driving the car.

Match 5: Robert Roode vs. Jeff Hardy
The match starts and Hardy gets the early advantage and scores a two count after hitting a leg drop between the legs and a seated dropkick.  Hardy then goes for the Twist of Fate but Roode rolls out to the floor and drags Hardy out to the floor.  Roode sends Hardy into the steel steps before rolling Hardy back into the ring and hits a knee drop from the middle rope.

Roode begins to wear down Hardy with a headlock but Hardy counters with a jawbreaker and takes him down with a spin kick.  Both are down on the mat as the referee begins the 10 count and they both get up and begin trading blows.  Hardy then comes with a few clotheslines and takes Roode down with a front suplex and again tries for the Twist of Fate but Roode counters with a spinebuster but Hardy kicks out of the pin attempt.

Roode then tries for the Payoff but Hardy counters with a neckbreaker and Hardy heads to the top rope as James Storm comes out but Hardy kicks him away.  Hardy then hits the Swanton Bomb and picks up the pin fall victory.  Storm, though, slides into the ring and attacks Hardy before blowing a fireball in his face.  The actual fireball, though, was edited from the broadcast.  RVD comes running out to the ring the help his partner but the numbers game proves to be too much as trainers tend to Hardy who is laid out in the corner of the ring.

After a commercial break we see Jeff Hardy being carried to the back and Mike Tenay says the footage of the fireball was too graphic to air on television but the unedited footage is available on tnawrestling.com.  The announce team then run down the Lockdown card and are treated to a video package highlighting the rivalry between Kurt Angle and Mr. Anderson.

Jeremy Borash is backstage with D’Angelo Dinero who says he has a job to do and feels for Abyss.  Jay Lethal comes in and offers to take Abyss’ place in the main event and says he is doing it for Hulk Hogan.

Match 6: D’Angelo Dinero & Jay Lethal vs. AJ Styles & Desmond Wolfe
Jay Lethal doesn’t come out during his ring entrance and we head to the back to see Beer Money brutally attacking him.  James Storm takes him out by smashing a beer bottle over his head.  AJ Styles then gets on the microphone says it looks like it has turned into a handicap match but Hulk Hogan takes out Desmond Wolfe with a chair shot during his ring entrance.

The Pope and Styles then begin to battle on the ring entrance and around the ringside area with Dinero getting in most of the licks.  The Pope rolls Styles into the ring but Styles comes back with an enziguri but the Pope fires back with a series of rapid fire punches.  Flair then gets up from his wheelchair and nails the Pope from behind with the TNA World Championship and Beer Money comes out to help.  Hulk Hogan again emerges from the entrance ramp and stares down Flair and his team as Impact comes to a close.
