As reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, TNA has signed Elijah Burke, who was last seen wrestling for the WWE in the spring of 2008.
Burke was first surfaced in WWE in the summer of 2006 and became a major player in the rebranding of ECW. Vince McMahon himself claimed the Burke was the future of ECW as he became the leader of the New Breed faction that battled with the ECW Originals. Once the feud was over, Burke set his sights on the ECW Championship before being phased out.
I always thought Burke was a solid performer with tons of natural charisma. I found it odd that the WWE creative team couldn’t find anything for him to work with when he was released from the company late last year. I won’t hold my breath, but I hope TNA creative can find something meaningful for him to work with as he has the potential to be a big player in the business.
Whatever the case may be, I will be thrilled to see Burke wrestling on television once again. WWE’s loss certainly is TNA’s gain this time around.
