You Can Go Back Home (6/4 Impact Recap)
Impact opens with footage from last week and focuses on the King of the Mountain qualifying matches, including the return of Shane Douglas. Also TNA’s most brutal match, Lethal Lockdown, will take place tonight in a match between Samoa Joe and Kevin Nash.
We see Lauren walking in the backstage area and catches up with Shane Douglas who says he plans on leaving his mark on TNA for a long time to come before walking away. The Impact intro hits as we are welcomed to this week’s show that will feature the King of the Mountain qualifying match between Nash and Joe.
Match 1: Kiyoshi & Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Daniels & Suicide
The match begins and Daniel gains the quick advantage before tagging in Suicide who hits a leg drop from the top rope. Kiyoshi is able to assist his partner as he kicks Suicide in the back of the head before being tagged into the match. Kiyoshi and Bashir work together with quick tags to wear down Suicide until he is finally able to counter a move to turn things around.
Daniels is tagged back into the match and he takes both Kiyoshi and Bashir down and hits a moonsault on Kiyoshi but Bashir is able to break up the pin attempt. Suicide takes Bashir down to the floor as the Motorcity Machine Guns and Lethal Consequences come in and take Suicide to the back. Meanwhile, Bashir distracts the referee by faking an injury as Shane Douglas comes out from the crowd and lays out Daniels with a chain. Kiyoshi makes the cover as Bashir rolls in the referee to make the three count.
Shane Douglas has a chair in the ring and takes a seat. Douglas tells Daniels not to take anything personal and it is strictly business. Douglas says he is a fan of TNA wrestling and is sick that Daniels got a second chance and wants to know where his is. Douglas demands a second chance to whomever is in charge and will continue to interfere until he gets his second chance.
Jeremy Borash is with Mick Foley and wants Foley to clarify his announcement from last week about defending the title once a year. Foley compares it to the Super Bowl and World Series as Kip James comes in. James begs Foley for work and wants to be put back on the roster and says he will do anything and Foley tells him he will see what he can do.
Kevin Nash walks in with Jenna Morasca and wonders why Foley booked him a Lethal Lockdown match. Foley says he may have been upset at the time, however, he can’t change it now. Nash tells him he won’t do it until Foley tells him he will increase his pay by four times for the match. Borash brings up Kip James and Foley says things are tight, for Kip.
Lauren is backstage with Lethal Consequences and the Motorcity Machine Guns. Chris Sabin says that they don’t like each other but they are going to put their differences aside to unmask Suicide. They five will meet in an X Division King of the Mountain match at Slammiversary. Tonight Sabin and Creed will team up to face Beer Money.
Match 2: Consequences Creed & Chris Sabin vs. Beer Money
Robert Roode and Chris Sabin go back and forth in the opening moments until both James Storm and Consequences Creed are tagged in. Storm slams Creed down and gets a two count but Sabin pulls Storm down by the hair to stop the momentum. Creed and Sabin then use quick tags to work over Storm but they have some problems when they collide when they both try to perform a high risk move at the same time.
The match then breaks down as the British Invasion makes their way to the ring. Team 3D come out to stop them and haul them to the back. Meanwhile, Sabin and Creed has some more communication problems as Sabin nails Creed with a kick to the face. Storm then nails Sabin with a superkick as Beer Money hits the DWI on Creed to pick up the pin fall.
Lauren is walking with the Beautiful People who are going on a search with a flash light as we head into a commercial. We return to see the Beautiful People performing a 3-on-1 beat down on Tara, formerly Victoria, but she is able to fight he way out of it and turn the tables on the Beautiful People. Tara then tells Angelina Love that she is next as Angelina runs away.
Lauren is backstage with Daffney and wonders why she couldn’t just talk about her problems with Taylor instead of getting to the level it got to. Daffney says that crazy people have no logic she says that Taylor wasn’t there when she needed her and that all she knows is that she has to hurt her tonight.
An interview between Mike Tenay and the Main Event Mafia is aired. Tenay brings up Samoa Joe’s hit list and asks Nash about it who will face him tonight. Nash says Joe won’t get through him tonight. Booker cuts in and says Joe is doing a lot of talking and the Mafia will put a hit on him. Steiner says Joe’s threats mean nothing as Angle butts in and says they will hurt Samoa Joe. Sting cuts in and tells the group to not forget where they came from and that it will be done his way.
A video package is aired that shows Daffney’s progression from being the Governor to where she is today. Daffney and Taylor will meet in the ring next.
Match 3: Daffney vs. Taylor Wilde
The match starts and it goes right out to the floor as Taylor begins nailing Daffney with a series of fists before sending her into the steel steps. The match makes its way into the ring and Taylor continues on the assault as Dr. Stevie and Raven come out which distracts Taylor. Daffney is then able to hit the lobotomy and scores the pin fall.
After the match, Daffney continues on the assault as Stevie and Raven enter the ring. Lauren runs out to assist Taylor as Raven calls for a microphone. Raven says that Raven and Richards have been reunited and have teamed to continue Abyss’ therapy.
A video package is aired that highlights the friendship between Jeff Jarrett and Eric Young which has come to a brutal end after EY attacked him from behind after their match last week. Jeff Jarrett comes out with a microphone and introduces Young to the audience. EY comes down to the ring and Jarrett says that Young got an opportunity last week but Jarrett won the match. Jarrett says that after the match, Young spit in his face with the sneak attack and gives EY the option to end it here or take it as far as it will go.
Young ponders the decision for a moment and wonders if he is supposed to apologize. Young says that Jarrett was a father figure to him as he has been the guy. Young says that Jarrett started TNA with his own money and made it what it is today to give the maggots watch a choice.
Young says he figured out why they became close friends as they grew up in the same upbringing. Young brings up Jarrett’s daughters as Jarrett answers back with a slap across the face. The two begin to fight in the ring as referees try to separate the two and Jarrett even lays out Earl Hebner.
Foley is watching from a television in the back as he says that he has anticipated Jarrett snapping like this for a while. Foley has taken the time to hire his own security and in walks Rocco and Sal.
A video package highlighting Jesse Neal’s past and how his ship was attacked by terrorists is aired. Neal says he is training to live a dream that he had with one of his friends that died during the attack. Footage is aired of his training and he is standing by with Lauren and Rhino. Neal says he is ready to wrestle as he will be fulfilling a lifelong dream.
Match 4: Matt Morgan vs. Jesse Neal
Jesse’s parents are in the Impact Zone to watch their son’s debut match. The bell rings and Neal goes on the offensive and puts Morgan in a headlock and is able to get a quick roll up but Morgan kicks out. Morgan comes back with a back drop and lands a series of elbow drops before taking him down with a side slam. Morgan begins to methodically pick Neal apart before taking him out with the Carbon Footprint and scores the pin fall.
Footage of Cody Deaner and ODB is aired as Deaner is taking part of a training bootcamp to get Deaner in shape. He is training by bench pressing paint cans and lifting kegs. This will be continued much to the delight of fans.
Mick Foley’s music hits as he comes down to the ring with his new security guards. Foley begins promoting next week’s show where Samoa Joe will take on both Booker T and Scott Steiner. Also on the show, Sting will take on Kurt Angle in a King of the Mountain qualifying match.
As for his security, for the first time in his life he is truly scared as Jeff Jarrett has snapped. Foley says he there is going to be a reaction for what he did to Earl Hebner and Jarrett will find out that his reaction will be hardcore next week.
Jeremy Borash is backstage with Sting and wants to get his thoughts about next week’s match. Sting says the MEM has more momentum now and not even Foley booking a match between him and Angle will stop that. Morgan comes in and asks if Sting saw his match and wants to know where his million dollar contract is at. Sting says that all of the members have known each other for years and the man he beat served our country for four years. Morgan doesn’t seem to care and Sting says it is all about respect and Morgan doesn’t have it.
After a commercial break we are informed that next week’s match where Joe takes on Steiner and Booker will be a first blood match. Jeremy Borash is sitting in with Steiner and Booker for their reaction. Booker says Joe isn’t going to bust anyone open and Steiner says they are not going to stand there like a punching bag. Steiner says the only bloodshed will be Joe’s blood.
Match 5: Kevin Nash vs. Samoa Joe (Lethal Lockdown King of the Mountain Qualifying Match)
During the ring introductions, Joe doesn’t come out and the camera catches up with him and he is talking to a mystery person as Joe has a towel draped over his head. He finally makes his way to the ring and immediately grabs a kendo stick as this match starts. Joe and Nash swing kendo sticks at each other and Nash gets the early advantage as he slowly picks Joe apart. Joe is able to turn the tide as he sends Nash headfirst into the cage wall as we head into a commercial break.
We return to the match as Joe is connecting with a series of rights that dazes Nash, however, Nash is able to slow Joe down with a low blow. Nash connects with a trash can lid over the head a few times but he isn’t able to keep Joe down for the three count. Joe fights back with a boot to the face as he locks in a headlock to wear Nash down. Joe grabs a hockey stick and breaks it across Nash’s back and picks up the pin fall for the victory.
After the match, Joe gets on the microphone and says “It is done,” as Impact comes to a close.

Starman’s Thoughts
Tonight’s show didn’t have the fire and enthusiasm of last week’s show, but it was decent. Nothing to write home about but it worked to further some angles as we make our way to Slammiversary.
Like last week, I liked how Sting has taken control of the Main Event Mafia. It wasn’t as obvious as it was last week, but I enjoyed how Sting allowed the rest of the members go on about what they are going to do to Samoa Joe before stepping in and saying they will do it his way. His interaction between Matt Morgan was also very good tonight.
Speaking of Morgan, I wasn’t too impressed by his match with Jesse Neal. I don’t mind that they are allowing Neal to fulfill a dream as he does have a tremendous story, I just wish they may have spent a little more time refining his skills. Even some of the basic stuff looked hard for Neal. I have to applaud the effort, though.
I am liking the interaction between Lethal Consequences and the Motorcity Machine Guns. The two have been brought together to go after a common goal, however, there is still that tension between them. The communication problems that Chris Sabin and Consequences Creed had during the match only added to it. Sure, it will be a 4-on-1 match at Slammiversary when the two teams and Suicide take part in a King of the Mountain match, but I’m sure their coalition won’t last too long due to this tension.
I was surprised that we got a Lethal Lockdown match on free television tonight. Maybe it was just me but a Lethal Lockdown match is pretty dull without the participants coming in a different intervals. What made this match even more dull was its finish – a headlock followed by breaking a hockey stick across the back. Is that all it takes to put Nash away these days? Maybe it is a good thing that they gave this match away on free television.
Finally, did anyone else notice the Stacker 2 logo mysteriously disappeared during the second bout? Nothing says “we are a taped show” than having something like that fall through the cracks.
