Mafia Re-loaded (5/7 Impact Recap)
A video package opens Impact that hypes the current storylines and we find out that the Main Event Mafia will be taking on Jeff Jarrett, Mick Foley, AJ Styles, Daniels and Samoa Joe in an epic 10-man tag team match tonight.
The Impact intro hits as we are welcomed to this week’s show by Mike Tenay who wonders who will be the next person to step up and offer a sacrifice to challenge for the TNA World Championship at Sacrifice. The Main Event Mafia’s music hits as they all come down to the ring, including Sting.
Kurt Angle says he did exactly what he said he was going to do last week and kicked Mick Foley’s ass. Angle then says that Jeff Jarrett has allowed him to be in the main event at Sacrifice and took up his offer to give up his leadership role in the Mafia if he is pinned. Angle then begins to question tonight’s main event and wants to know why the match of this magnitude is taking place on free television.
Mick Foley’s music hits as he comes down to the ring with Daniels. Foley says he has propelled TNA into the stratosphere and assembled a team of some of the originals that built the platform to prove their power tonight. Jeff Jarrett’s music hits as he comes down with AJ Styles and questions Foley’s booking decision. Jarrett and Foley then get into an argument and Jarrett tells Foley to kiss his ass.
Lauren is in the parking lot and meets up with Samoa Joe, who is just arriving. Joe gets out of a car with a towel draped over his head as Lauren questions who he is with. Joe doesn’t say a word and walks away.
A video recap of the Motorcity Machine Guns calling out Suicide and Daniels is aired. This brings us to our opening contest.
Match 1: Consequences Creed vs. Suicide (Non-title Match)
Suicide quickly takes Creed down and goes for a quick pin fall but Creed is able to kick out. Don West begins comparing Suicide’s moves to Daniels as Creed is able to take Suicide down with a somersault clothesline. Creed picks up a two count after a swinging neckbreaker and picks up a two count but Suicide is able to kick out.
Suicide begins fighting back as they begin trading punches until Suicide is able to ram Creed’s head into the turnbuckle. Creed begins to mount a comeback but Suicide is able to put the match away after delivering a jawbreaker to Creed and picking up the pin fall.
Matt Morgan is meeting with Mick Foley in the office and wants to be booked in a match to showcase his talent in the ring. Foley says he can impress the Mafia by taking out their security. Jeremy Borash wonders why Foley would want Morgan aligned with the MEM. Foley says that may pose a problem and he will take care of it and gets on the phone.
Lauren is backstage with the Beautiful People and Velvet Sky is all worked up as Madison Rayne isn’t with them today as she has been bed-ridden since being beat down by Awesome Kong. Angelina Love says there is nothing to worry about and tries to comfort her.
A pre-taped interview segment between Mick Tenay and the Main Event Mafia is aired. Angle talks about creating a close knit family with Mafia as they all respect each other and are all focused on the TNA World Championship. Sting jumps in and says that they have had their differences but they have resolved those issues. Scott Steiner offers his thoughts and says that the Mafia won’t be finished until the take over TNA.
Lauren is backstage with Taylor Wilde who seems to be a bit giddy. Taylor begins talking about a secret admirer and she asks Lauren to come with when she meets him in person on Tuesday.
Jeremy Borash is with Jeff Jarrett and wants his thoughts on Mick Foley who he thinks is out of his mind. Jarrett says he will deal with Foley on his own time and tells him to leave.
Match 2: MEM Security vs. Matt Morgan (2-on-1 Handicap Match)
Morgan starts off against Sal and takes him down with a head butt. Rocco is tagged in and Morgan tosses the big man around the ring and takes him down with a chokeslam. Morgan goes for a powerbomb but Sal comes in and nails him from behind. Sal pounds on Morgan while Rocco climbs the ropes but Morgan is able to slam Rocco down to the mat. Morgan dropkicks Rocco out of the ring and connects with the Carbon Footprint on Sal to get the pin fall and win the match.
Jeremy Borash is with Mick Foley who says he might need to tweek the main event match tonight. Foley goes into Cactus Jack mode and says that Jeff Jarrett’s guitar is banned from ringside and that the executive shareholder no longer wants to be bothered tonight.
Lauren is backstage with Eric Young and Jethro Holliday and EY says he has taken the scraps that he was given from TNA and made something out of them. Young says he knows Beer Money’s weaknesses as he holds pay-per-view victories over both members.
Match 3: Beer Money, Inc. vs. Eric Young & Jethro Holliday (Tag Team Tournament Semi-Final Match)
Team 3D joins the broadcast team to get a closer look at the tournament match up. The bell rings and Young is able to get a few quick pin falls on Robert Roode until Storm connects with a kick to Young’s head as the referee is distracted and Roode nails Young with a spinebuster. As the match goes on, Team 3D and Mike Tenay talk about the state of tag team wrestling in TNA and in the WWE.
EY is able to stop an offensive onslaught with a belly-to-belly suplex and tags in Jethro Holliday, who comes in and takes out both members of Beer Money. The numbers game catches up with Holliday but EY is able to make a blind tag to get into the match, however, he walks right into a superkick and Beer Money puts them away with the DWI to win the match and advance to the finals.
Lauren is backstage with Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed who says that tonight is phase two of the wrath of Kong. Saeed says that Kong will take down all of Love’s friends as she hands the microphone to Kong who says “Dumb blonde, dead blonde.”
A recap of last week’s stretcher match is aired, which brings us to the next match, which is also a stretcher match.
Match 4: Velvet Sky vs. Awesome Kong (Stretcher Match)
Prior to the match, Earl Hebner sends Raisha Saeed and Angelina Love to the back. The match starts and Velvet takes a few shots at Kong but Kong fires back with a clothesline and takes her down with an Implant Buster. Kong delivers two more Implant Busters before tossing her on the stretcher. As Hebner starts the 10-count, Kong picks Velvet up and delivers two more Implant busters before putting her back on and stretcher. Hebner starts a fast 10-count but Kong picks her up and drives her down with an Awesome Bomb and Hebner does a super quick 10-count to get this match over with.
We see more video footage of Abyss meeting with Dr. Stevie who has a surprise for him. Daffney enters the room and Stevie says she is there to help him and wants Abyss to transfer his aggression to her. Stevie says that she will be taking place in Monster’s Ball at Sacrifice and wants him to be in her corner. Abyss agrees to helping out.
Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed come out to the ring with a microphone and call out Daniels. Creed tells Daniels that he respects him but wants to know what has been happening with him and Suicide. Daniels tells Creed that if he worries more about Suicide and not who is behind the mask he may have done better in his match.
As Daniels tries to leave, Lethal stops him and gets in his face with some Macho Man impressions. Daniels tells Lethal that he doesn’t have time for his jokes and calls Lethal the biggest joke in TNA. Lethal takes off the hat and the glasses and slaps Daniels across the face. Creed has to step in between the two as the Motorcity Machine Guns come out. Alex Shelley calls out Daniels and Chris Sabin says they will unmask Suicide next week and expose Daniels as Suicide.
Jeremy Borash is meeting with Jeff Jarrett once again and runs down a checklist of things Mick Foley has done in the recent past and wants to know what Jarrett is going to do about it. Sting walks in and he will tell Jarrett what to do about it and says if he pins Mick Foley he wants to be in the match at Sacrifice. Sting and Jarrett shake hands as he tells Sting he will have to sacrifice something as well.
Lauren is backstage with Angelina Love who is talking on the phone and pleads with the person to come to Impact next week as she is all alone. Love then says she doesn’t care about Spike TV’s man-on-woman violence rule as she walks away.
A video package highlighting the history of the Main Event Mafia is aired. This brings us into our big 10-man tag team main event.
Match 5: The Main Event Mafia vs. Samoa Joe/Daniels/AJ Styles/Jeff Jarrett/Mick Foley
The match starts as Scott Steiner is in the ring with Samoa Joe, who quickly takes down Steiner and tags in Daniels. Daniels flies into the ring with a cross body block but Steiner is quick to come back and tags in Kurt Angle who comes in and works over Daniels with an arm bar.
Daniels is able to connect with a kick and tags in AJ Styles who rams Angle into the knees of Daniels. Angle fights back and rakes Styles in the eyes before tagging in Booker T. Styles takes Booker down and gets a quick pin attempt before applying a chin lock. Booker fights his way out and takes Styles down with a kick as we head into a commercial break.
We return to the match to see Kevin Nash working over Styles and tags in Sting who works over Styles briefly before tagging Angle back into the match. The MEM cuts off the ring and use quick tags as the methodically work Styles over. Steiner is able to pick up a two count after a belly-to-belly suplex but Samoa Joe breaks up the pin fall.
Angle is tagged in and goes for the Angle Slam but Styles counters and connects with a Pele kick. Styles begins to crawl to his corner and tags in Mick Foley as Sting is also tagged into the match. Foley takes down Sting with neckbreaker as Angle comes in and takes Foley down with a German suplex. The match begins to break down as everyone enters the ring one-by-one.
Joe dives through the ropes onto Kevin Nash and Daniels and Styles dive over the ropes and onto Steiner and Booker. Meanwhile, Angle grabs Foley’s barbed wire baseball bat but Jarrett hits Angle with a low blow but Foley takes the bat away from Jarrett. Foley then takes the bat and swings it at Jarrett but Jarrett counters and drives Foley into the bat with the Stroke. Jarrett then grabs Angle and drives him down with the Stroke as Sting sneaks into the ring and covers Foley to pick up the victory.
After the match, Sting gets on the microphone and tells Mick Foley that he is in the four-way match at Sacrifice. Sting says that he will put his career on the line for his sacrifice as he walks out of the ring.
