We are warned not to change the channel tonight as tonight 20 men will be locked inside the Six Sides of Steel where two will emerge to captain their own teams in Lethal Lockdown. The Impact intro then hits as we are welcomed to tonight’s show. We see a group of wrestlers standing on the entrance ramp and Jim Cornette is standing in the ring.
Cornette says that TNA will be celebrating the 5th anniversary of Lockdown and one part of the double main event will be Sting defending the TNA Championship against Mick Foley. The other half of the main event will be the Lethal Lockdown match and tells us we will determine the team captains tonight in the Cage Gauntlet match. The last two standing will earn the right to pick their teams.
The Main Event Mafia’s music hits as they slowly come down to the ring. Kurt Angle asks how Cornette is going to give the rest of the talent the same opportunity when the MEM is in the match. Angle promises to win the match to gain the advantage going into Lockdown and will choose Booker, Nash and Steiner as his teammates and will continue their domination throughout the rest of the year and 2010.
Jeff Jarrett’s music hits as he comes down to the ring in wrestling gear. Jarrett says he is going to participate in the gauntlet match to ensure that he is not going to be a captain. The two then get into a pull apart brawl as we head into a commercial break.
Jeremy Borash is standing by with the Main Event Mafia and Booker causes a ruckus as Jenna Morasca is in the dressing room. Angle tells Nash to take her out of the room as Steiner tells Nash to save him a piece when he is done. Borash asks for Angle’s thoughts about Jarrett’s comment. Angle says that Jarrett won’t even make it to the match as he asks Steiner for his pipe.
Match 1: Kiyoshi vs. Suicide (X Division Title Match)
Kiyoshi comes down to the ring with No Limit as Suicide repels from the ceiling as usual. I am also guessing that TNA gave away a ton of Suicide shirts as nearly everyone in the crowd facing the camera is wearing one. A “Suicide” chant starts as Kiyoshi is able to get the upper hand and picks up a quick pin attempt. Kiyoshi tosses Suicide out to the floor to No Limit before distracting the referee allowing his partners to get in a few licks before sending him back into the ring.
Back in the ring, Suicide begins to show signs of life but Kiyoshi takes him down with an overhead release suplex. Kiyoshi heads to the top rope but misses with a splash and Suicide comes back with a DDT. Kiyoshi is able to kick out of a pin attempt and quickly recovers and slams Suicide down to the mat. Kiyoshi heads to the top rope but Suicide is able to pull him down and sends him into Yujiro who was standing on the apron. Suicide then hits the Suicide Solution and picks up the pin fall.
We return from a commercial to see footage of what happened during the break as a bunch of wrestlers stood in between Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle in the management office. Jarrett assures Angle that he will take him out of the match.
Lauren is standing by with the Beautiful People and Madison Rayne who says that the Beautiful People will be facing Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed due to her comment last week about Kong. Angelina Love says that she is glad the match is happening and they always get what they want and they want the Knockout Championship. Velvet Sky goes on to tell Madison that the hazing will continue this week and tell her to sheer Kong and take the braids out of her hair.
The next installment of TNA Rough Cut is aired and this week it focuses on Brother Ray, who talks about his love of professional wrestling. Ray talks about breaking into the business and not being trained properly and resents the trainer to this day. He got together with Devon in ECW as part of the Dudley Clan and they have seen more of each other than they have with their own families over the past 13 years. Ray says that also know that people pay to see the team and not as individuals and they are fine with that.
We are then treated to highlights of the Beer Money/Team 3D feud before seeing a pre-taped sit down interview with the two tag teams and Mike Tenay. Team 3D talks about having the match in Philadelphia, where they have the most violent fans and where they made their names. Storm says that he has been in TNA since day one and TNA is their back yard and will become greater than Team 3D, the Steiner’s, and the Road Warriors. Brother Ray comes back and challenges Beer Money to beat them if they can and survive if the fans let them.
Lauren is standing by with Sting who says he doesn’t know what he is going to say to Mick Foley as there is no logical explanation for his actions. Sting says that whatever it is there are no excuses, and he will see him in the ring and will come armed himself.
After a commercial break, Lauren is standing by with Mick Foley for his response. Foley says he was wrong with his actions and will make up for it in the ring. Lauren says that he will be bringing his baseball bat and Foley says there will be no need for violence.
Match 2: Awesome Kong & Raisha Saeed vs. the Beautiful People
The match starts and Velvet Sky work over Saeed for a moment before tagging in Angelina Love. Love comes in and calls for Kong to come in the ring and Saeed makes the tag. Kong destroys both of the Beautiful People before tagging Saeed back into the match who picks up the pieces of Angelina. Kong goes after Velvet on the outside and Angelina hits the Lights Out on Saeed to pick up the pin fall.
After the match, the Beautiful People surround Kong in the ring and take her down as Madison Rayne grabs the scissors but Kong is able to power her way out before any hair is cut.
Sting comes down to the ring with a microphone and asks Mick Foley to come to the ring and to explain his actions. Mick Foley’s music hits as he comes down to the ring with a microphone of his own. Foley says it is quite simple as it was a big misunderstanding and has had a video put together to help explain. Foley says that last week he thought Sting was threatening Jarrett with the guitar so he helped save Jarrett.
Sting says he was trying to protect Foley last week because he respected him. He goes on to say that he knows the pain that Foley is in just to entertain the fans and the wrestlers in the back, but he is starting to lose his respect for him. Foley says he doesn’t need Sting’s pity and Sting won’t see a down and out loser that will be reliving history, they will be making history. As far as big dives off cages go, Foley says he still has a couple left in him. Bang! Bang!
We then see Abyss and AJ Styles making their way towards the ring as they will be the first two entrants in the 20-man gauntlet.
Match 3: 20-Man Six Sides of Steel Gauntlet
Eliminations will occur by pin fall or submission and the last two standing will be captains for the Lethal Lockdown match. Entrants will come into the ring every two minutes and the first two are Abyss and AJ Styles. The bell rings and Styles uses his speed but Abyss’ power is too much. Abyss methodically works over Styles and hits the Shock Treatment as Alex Shelley comes into the ring.
Shelley uses his quickness against both Abyss and Styles but Abyss is able to drop him with a high power slam. As Abyss turns around, Styles hits him with a flying forearm but Shelley is there and nails Styles with a couple of shoulder blocks in the corner as the clock winds down and Jay Lethal is the next one in the match. Lethal comes in and plays no favorites with anyone and takes down his Frontline partners and we head into a commercial break.
We return to see that Chris Sabin has been entered into the match and Matt Morgan is the next one in. Morgan immediately goes after Abyss as the Motorcity Machine Guns are working together. Morgan turns his attention to the rest of the competition and begins powering them around and uses the cage walls to his advantage until Styles nails the Pele kick and Abyss takes Morgan down with the Black Hole Slam and covers to make the first elimination.
Homicide is the seventh one out and he goes right after both members of the Motorcity Machine Guns and sends them both into the cage walls. Scott Steiner is the next one out who steps in and begins taking everyone down with clotheslines before getting down to do some push ups. We are once again heading into a commercial break as this match continues.
During the break, Homicide was eliminated by Chris Sabin and Consequences Creed has entered in a number nine. We return to live action and see Jay Lethal nearly pin both members of the MMG’s at once. Rhino is the tenth wrestler in the match and he goes right after Steiner. Looking at the overhead camera shot, Abyss and Scott Steiner are the only non-members of the Frontline in the ring, if the group still exists, and Styles and Abyss are still in the match.
Jeff Jarrett is next and he is attacked by Kurt Angle before he even makes it to the ring. TNA security tries to break it up but Angle is able to smash Jarrett’s arm with a steel chair as his arm was draped over the guard railing. As trainers look after Jarrett, Naito from No Limit is the next one entered into the match. Naito works together along with the Guns to wear down Lethal Consequences, however, Lethal is able to hit the Lethal Combination to Shelley to eliminate him from the match.
Kurt Angle is the next one out and he goes right after Jeff Jarrett before going into the cage. Angle goes right after Creed and puts him in the ankle lock and makes him tap out. Angle them hits Sabin with an Angle Slam and covers for the three count to eliminate Sabin. Angle then immediately hits Lethal with an Angle Slam for another pin fall and elimination as we head into a commercial break.
During the break, Naito had been eliminated by Scott Steiner and Shane Sewell has entered the cage. Sewell’s time in the cage is short lived, however, as he is taken out with an Angle Slam. The countdown is up once again and Sheik Abdul Bashir is the next one in the match and goes right after Rhino. There are six wrestlers in the ring at the moment, with Abyss and Styles still in the match.
Booker T is the next participant in the match who goes right after AJ Styles and nails him with the Book End and picks up the pin fall to eliminate Styles. As Booker turns around, Rhino nails him with a Gore and picks up the pin fall. As Booker leaves the cage, he is met up with AJ Styles on the ramp as they fight to the back. Yujiro is the next one in the match and he goes after Steiner and nearly eliminates him but Angle is there to break up the pin fall.
Bashir begins making buddies with the Main Event Mafia but Angle quickly turns and takes him down with the Angle Slam and eliminates Bashir. Eric Young is the next one into the match as both Steiner and Angle team up to pin Abyss to eliminate him from the match. Kurt Angle then hits Eric Young with an Angle Slam and takes EY out of the match. Rhino also hits Yujiro with the Gore and scores the pin fall over him. Immediately after, Angle takes Rhino down with an Angle Slam and makes the pin fall.
There are two people left in the ring and it is Kurt Angle and Scott Steiner as they do a couple of fake pin attempts with each other. The 19th entrant comes down and it is Hernandez who comes in and takes them both down with clotheslines. Hernandez then powers them both around but the numbers game proves to be too much as Angle takes Hernandez down and out with the Angle Slam.
Angle and Steiner stand around momentarily until the clock runs down once again as Jarrett comes back out all bandaged up. Jarrett comes in the cage and is dishing out right fists, but the Main Event Mafia is too much as they work together against Jarrett. Jarrett, though, is able to land the Stroke on Steiner and eliminate him from the match. Angle and Jarrett begin going at it as Angle puts Jarrett in the ankle lock but Jarrett is able to kick out. Jarrett comes back and hits Angle with the Stroke and goes for the cover but Steiner hits the referee to stop the count.
Steiner hits Jarrett with an Angle Slam of his own and Angle covers Jarrett to make the pin fall. Samoa Joe’s music hits and he comes out as the 20th entrant. Joe comes in and fires at Angle with some rights but Angle is able to drive him down to the mat with an Angle Slam. Joe, however, immediately gets up from it and hits Angle with the muscle buster to win the match. Both Joe and Angle will be team captains for the Lethal Lockdown match.
Jim Cornette joined the broadcast team and stated that he gave Jarrett another chance at the match since he was never eliminated in the first place.
Jeremy Borash then joined Kurt Angle in the MEM dressing room and says that he eliminated Jarrett three times and Jarrett changed the rules because he is the founder and booker of TNA. As for Joe, he guarantees that the MEM will end his career and hopes that he brings along Jeff Jarrett.
Joe is sitting in the parking lot with Lauren and she asks who will be on his team. Joe says he is not interested in being captain and his only purpose is to torture every member of the Main Event Mafia. Joe goes on to say that he doesn’t care who the captain is but he will be at Lethal Lockdown and his knife will be coming with him.
