I am not a resident of South Dakota, but I will be making a trip to the Mount Rushmore state a couple of times in March to hit up a pair of wrestling shows.
The first trip stops in the largest city in the state, Sioux Falls, for a NWA Wrestling Showcase house show at the Sioux Falls Arena on March 1st. Scheduled for the card is a handicap match featuring King V (Bid Daddy V/Viscera) and tag team match pitting the Skullkrushers against the Young Bucks for the NWA Tag Team Championship. Plus, the NWA Midwest Champion, Silas Young, will be in action and I have read rumors that Sean Waltman will be in attendance as well. A quick check at Ticketmaster shows that first row tickets are still available, which is where I’ll be sitting, and it is a fine way to kill a Sunday afternoon in between the football and baseball seasons.
My next journey to South Dakota will take me into Brookings, which is home to the largest university in the state, SDSU. This stop will be for a TNA house show at the Swiftel Center on March 23rd. TNA hasn’t announced any of the matches that will take place but I am still looking forward to the show nonetheless. This will be the second house show and third overall live TNA event that I have attended in the past year. The last house show I attended in Spencer, IA, was a lot of fun with some decent matches and fan interaction after the show. It appears that all of the ringside seats are sold out, which is where I will be sitting, but there are still floor seats available as well as a bunch of seats in the elevated sections.
If you live in the South Dakota area you should try to come out to these shows if you can. If you don’t live in the area, be sure to at least support any local wrestling events that come to your neck of the woods. Independent or not, you are sure to be entertained and you never know when you might find a surprise. I was surprised recently when I saw a local indy wrestler I’ve seen wrestle around here job to the Boogeyman on a episode of ECW a few weeks ago. I can now say I have seen Sammy Savard lose all three times I have seen him perform.
