Bound for Glory IV (10/12 PPV Recap)

A video package highlighting the history of Chicago and its infamous gangsters is aired. The video then focuses on the bigger matches of the night and says that tonight, TNA will become untouchable.

We head to the live crowd in Chicago and see that the Steel Asylum cage is already set up around the ring. Mike Tenay and Don West briefly hype the card as we head right into the opening match up.

Match 1: Steel Asylum Match (Alex Shelley vs. Jay Lethal vs. Curry Man vs. Chris Sabin vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Jimmy Rave vs. Johnny Devine vs. Petey Williams vs. Shark Boy vs. Super Eric)
This match will be for an X Division Title shot and none of the participants come out to their own theme music. Rudy Charles is harnessed above the cage to make sure he has a clear view of the exit above the ring. The bell rings and everyone goes on the attack and Shark Boy is the first one to climb the side of the cage but Alex Shelley is there to pull him down.

The Motorcity Machine Guns work together against Super Eric and grind his crotch on the top rope, however, Super Eric’s friends Shark Boy and Curry Man are there to help him out. Soon, Johnny Devine catches himself in a tight spot where several stars take turns smashing him into the corner. Shortly after, the Prince Justice Brotherhood finds themselves on the receiving end of a triple suplex at the hands of the Motorcity Machine Guns, Jimmy Rave and Johnny Devine, which brings out a huge “TNA” chant from the fans.

The X Division stars begin pairing off and working each other over with very few of them actually trying to climb up the side of the cage. After some back and forth action, Jay Lethal is the first one to get anywhere on the side of the cage, but he is stopped by Rave. Lethal then sends Rave crashing down to the mat with a hurricanrana, which is followed by a frog splash from the top rope by Shelley. Another TNA chant ensues.

The Guns begins picking the pieces of all of the participants who are lying in the ring, until Williams counters Shelley’s attempt at Sliced Bread #2 into a Canadian Destroyer. Williams begins climbing the side until Sabin stops him. Shark Boy gets in between the two of them and delivers a Dead Sea Drop to both of them from the top rope. Devine then lands a bad Devine Intervention on Rave, which looks like it may have injured Rave in the process.

Curry Man takes Devine down with the Spice Rack and slams Dutt into the corner before climbing the cage. Curry Man makes it to the top but Dutt is closing in behind him and pulls him down. Jay Lethal begins making his way up the side and they start throwing punches at each other at the top until Lethal finally makes his way out of the top to win the match.

We join Mike Tenay and Don West at the announce table who run down and hype the rest of the card. We then head to Jeremy Borash who is in Jim Cornette’s office. Cornette tells Borash that he is responsible for a lot of the success that TNA has endured. Mick Foley comes into the office and begins sharing stories of some travels he did with the Midnight Express. Cornette says that he has to meet with some Spike TV officials and asks Foley to hold down his office for him. The Beautiful People then enter and are upset for not getting all blue M&M’s and want it taken care of ASAP.

A video package highlighting the 6-person Bimbo Brawl is aired which brings us into our next contest.

Match 2: The Beautiful People & Cute Kip vs. Rhaka Khan/ODB/Rhino w/ Special Referee Traci Brooks
Prior to the match, Rhino shakes hands with Curtis Granderson, who plays baseball for the Detroit Tigers, while Cute Kip goes out and shares a few words with him. The bell rings and ODB methodically works over both members of the Beautiful People until she tags Rhino into the match. Rhino takes Velvet Sky down with a hip toss and sets up for the Gore, but Kip comes into the ring and pulls her out of the way.

Rhaka Khan tags herself in as Velvet Sky tags Kip into the match. The two begin to stare down and Kip goes for choke hold as Khan grabs below the belt. Kip hops over and tags in Love who isn’t very intimidated by Khan, but she manages to find herself in the wrong corner as ODB is tagged in, who slams her down to the mat. As ODB plays to the crowd, Sky distracts Traci Brooks in the corner as Kip comes in and nails ODB with their makeup kit.

Love begins to work over ODB until she finally counters with a back body drop and they both roll into their corners to tag in the men. Rhino powers Kip around and picks up a near fall as the match then begins to break down. With the women fighting on the outside, Kip goes for the Fameasser, however, Rhino counters with the Gore to pick up the victory.

Lauren is backstage with Consequences Creed who says that he debuted last year at Bound for Glory and this year he is challenging for the X Division Title. He goes on to say that he will walk out of the arena tonight with the title around his waist and he will make America proud.

Match 3: Sheik Abdul Bashir vs. Consequences Creed (X Division Title)
Iraqi war veteran, Purple Heart recipient and Chicago native, Sgt. Daniel Casara, introduced Consequences Creed to the ring for this match up. As Casara is leaving the ring, Bashir gets on the microphone and starts spouting off in Arabic as The Hexagon Circle gets some free publicity from a sign in the crowd.

Having heard enough, Creed hops into the ring and sends Bashir out to the floor. Creed follows by diving on him out to the floor and celebrating on the announce table. Creed then nails Bashir with a high cross body block and picks up a near fall.

Bashir finally turns the match around by sending Creed crashing out to the railing. Bashir then begins working Creed over with a waist lock as the crowd rallies behind Creed. Bashir continues to work over Creed with a leg lock and is keeping him grounded during the match. Bashir finally locks on a sleeper hold and the referee checks the arm but Creed stays up on the third try.

Creed fights out of the sleeper and connects with a kick on Bashir. Creed continues with a couple of elbows and picks up a near fall after landing a back drop. Creed then drops Bashir from a press slam onto his knees and nearly captures the X Division gold. Creed climbs to the top rope but he is met by Bashir who takes him down with a hurricanrana. Bashir then rolls up Creed near the corner of the ring and uses the ropes for leverage to pick up the win.

We head to Jim Cornette’s office where Mick Foley tells Jeremy Borash about his teeth falling out during the Hell in the Cell match. Awesome Kong and Raisha Saeed come in and Saeed says that Kong will not be held responsible for her actions against the two swines she is taking on. A video package with Taylor Wilde and Roxxi giving their thoughts on their upcoming match is aired and that match is up next.

Match 4: Awesome Kong vs. Roxxi vs. Taylor Wilde (TNA Knockout Championship)
During Roxxi’s ring entrance, The Hexagon Circle got a bit more free advertising. Thanks TNA!

The match starts as both Taylor and Roxxi begin to team together against Awesome Kong. They send Kong out to the floor with a double dropkick before Taylor and Roxxi turn their attention on each other. Taylor uses her speed against Roxxi and nearly picks up the pin fall until Kong enters the ring and breaks it up.

Saeed pulls Roxxi out to the floor as Kong methodically works Taylor over in the ring. Taylor nearly picks up an upset pin on Kong with a roll up, but Roxxi is there to break it up and sends Taylor out to the floor. Roxxi begins to work over Kong and takes her down with a neckbreaker. Roxxi tries for a pin attempt, but Taylor breaks it up. Roxxi then picks up Taylor and begins to bend her as Kong runs at them and levels Roxxi with a boot to the face.

Kong then takes Roxxi down with a cross body block and then drives her down with an Implant Buster, but Taylor is there to break it up. Kong answers back with a hard clothesline and she is the last one standing. Kong climbs to the top rope but Taylor gets up and knocks her out to the floor. Roxxi grabs Taylor and tries for the Cajun Drop, but Taylor escapes the hold and counters with a suplex with a bridge to pick up the win.

AJ Styles is visiting with Mick Foley in Jim Cornette’s office and says that he is glad that Foley is a part of TNA, even though he isn’t as excited about some of the other guys in the company. Foley says that he is on Styles’ side in the Sting/respect issue as Team 3D interrupts and they get in each other’s faces. Foley steps in and breaks it up as Foley asks why Brother Ray stole his red and black flannel. Brother Ray says that they do what they want and tells Foley to stay out of their way. Cornette reappears and Foley says he is going to be the sock of the walk tonight.

Match 5: Beer Money, Inc. vs. Abyss & Matt Morgan vs. Team 3D vs. The LAX (Monster’s Ball Match for the TNA Tag Team Championship w/ Special Referee Steve McMichael)
Steve “Mongo” McMichael is the special guest referee for this match and the cameras focus in on my “I Drove 600 Miles IV This” sign in the crowd. Thanks again, TNA! Also, a couple of trash cans full of weapons are in the entrance ramp for this match.

The bell rings and everyone goes right at Beer Money before pairing off in this one. A “we want tables” chant starts early on as the LAX work over James Storm in the ring. Robert Roode, though, comes in and helps his partner but Hernandez takes him down with a shoulder block. Homicide and Hernandez then take turns diving over the ropes and taking out Beer Money.

Homicide and Devon begin going at it in the ring and Homicide busts a crutch over Devon’s back. Homicide then begins to use a fork on Devon’s head and cuts him open. Abyss comes in the ring and gives Homicide the Shock Treatment as Brother Ray comes into the ring with a cheese grater, Ray begins grinding Abyss’ forehead with the grater to cut it open.

Ray then connects with a cookie sheet on the head of Hernandez before driving him down to the mat with a superplex. Ray tries to pick up the victory but Roode is able to come into the ring and break up the three count. Beer Money then begins to double team Brother Ray but Mongo gives them a very slow three count. Beer Money then begins working on Morgan, but he comes back with a double suplex on both of them.

Devon nails Morgan with a trash can lid but Abyss comes in a drives him down with a choke slam. Abyss almost gives Roode a choke slam as well, but Storm distracts him with a bag of tacks as Roode nails Abyss in the back with a steel chair. Storm then puts on his beer helmet and grabs a football and challenges Mongo, who clotheslines Roode. Homicide tries to go for the pin on Roode, but he is able to kick out of Mongo’s slow three count.

A huge “we want tables” chant goes throughout the crowd as Morgan takes out about three people from leaping off the top rope and onto the floor. Meanwhile, Abyss and Team 3D begin fighting up the entrance ramp and Ray uses a staple gun on Abyss’ forehead. Johnny Devine comes out and nails Abyss with a kendo stick a couple of times before bringing a table out for his partners.

Devine has some lighter fluid in his back pocket and Team 3D uses it to start the table on fire. Team 3D deliver a double choke slam on Abyss through the flaming table, however, the table doesn’t go out on impact and Abyss stays on fire until he is extinguished on two separate occasions. Abyss retreats to underneath the entrance ramp as we see the replay from several different angles.

Back to the live action, Hernandez nails Storm with a couple of shots with the kendo stick as the fans start a loud “this is awesome” chant. The LAX begin working over Beer Money and nearly pick up a couple of near falls but Mongo’s slow cadence prevents it. Morgan comes in and nails Hernandez with a big boot and slams Homicide down to the mat but the LAX answer back with a Border Toss.

Team 3D come back into the ring and nail Homicide with a flying headbutt and yell for the tables, but Hernandez connects with a flying double clothesline on both Ray and Devon. Hernandez then sets up the table and has some troubles with opening the bag of tacks and Mongo has to help him as he spreads them around the table. Hernandez is about to send Devon crashing through it but Ray is able to hit Hernandez from behind and take him out with a 3D onto the table full of tacks. Roode then slides in and covers Hernandez and picks up the win to retain their tag team titles.

A video package highlighting the Booker T/Christian Cage/AJ Styles three-way match is aired and that match is up next.

Match 6: Booker T vs. Christian Cage vs. AJ Styles
Booker T and AJ Styles go right at it as the bell rings as Christian Cage walks out to the floor and observes the action. Booker finally knocks Styles to the ring and shakes hands with Cage, but Cage responds with an inverted DDT. Styles and Cage then go at it and it appears that Cage has no alliances in this match up.

Cage knocks Styles out to the floor and Booker soon follows by kicking Cage over the ropes and out to the floor as well. Styles climbs up to the ring apron and appears to be setting up for a flying forearm on Booker but instead does a moonsault from the top rope and lands on Cage on the floor. Booker walks out to the floor and the three begin to battle near the announce table, where Booker clocks Styles with the mysterious briefcase.

Booker and Cage re-enter the ring where Booker finds himself in control of the match. Booker picks up a couple of near falls on Cage until they knock each other down with a double clothesline. While both men are down, Styles finally recovers and flies into the ring and lands a forearm shot to Booker. Styles turns his attention to Cage and takes him down with a dropkick as the camera turns to a shot of the crowd where the Starman himself can be seen applauding the move to the right of a man wearing a Chick Magnet costume.

Back to the action as Styles takes Cage down with an inverted DDT. Styles goes for a pin attempt, but Cage is able to kick out in time. Styles and Cage begin to slowly battle in the ring until Booker comes in and levels them both with clotheslines. Booker delivers a kick to Cage that sends him to the outside but Styles comes back with an armbar. Cage comes in to break it up but Styles takes him down with a leg scissors, however, Booker finally manages to stop Styles’ momentum with a Book End.

Booker T celebrates with a classic spin-a-rooni but Cage nails him with a flying elbow as Booker stands back up. Cage then drives Styles down with an implant DDT before setting Styles up on the top turnbuckle. Cage climbs the ropes but Styles is able to drop Cage down to the mat. Styles goes for the spiral tap but Cage rolls out of the way and Styles catches the mat.

Booker comes back and drops them both with a single axe kick. Booker tries for a high risk move but is knocked down onto the turnbuckle. Cage then spears Styles but Booker holds the referee so he can’t make the count. Styles and Cage begin to fight on the ropes next to Booker and Cage lands the Unprettier on Styles from the ropes and Booker follows by landing the axe kick on Cage from the ropes to pick up the three count.

A video package highlighting the war of words between Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle is aired. Lauren then joins Angle in the locker room who says Mick Foley is there to protect Mick Foley and says that he will go through Foley to get to Jarrett. Jeremy Borash is standing by with Jarrett to get his comments about what Angle just said. Jarrett says that his little girls have kept him going in the past two years and tonight he is doing it for them.

Match 7: Kurt Angle vs. Jeff Jarrett w/ Special Enforcer Mick Foley
Angle offers up a middle finger to Foley as he stands between them before the match. The match starts and Angle quickly takes Jarrett down a few times before Angle slows the match down with a headlock. Jarrett finally answers back with a hip toss and headlock of his own as a “boring” chant filters through the crowd.

Jarrett lands a dropkick on Angle before hitting a clothesline that sends Angle out to the floor. Jarrett then slings himself over the ropes and onto Angle before sending Angle hard into the guard railing. Jarrett goes back to the apron and tries to leap on Angle again but he catches nothing but the rail. Angle sends Jarrett back into the ring and begins to methodically pick apart Jarrett until Jarrett catches him with an ensuguri. Jarrett celebrates with the trademark Jarrett Strut until Angle levels him with a clothesline.

Angle works Jarrett over with another headlock until Jarrett fights out of it. Angle then tries the charge at Jarrett in the corner but ends up catching the ring post. Jarrett answers with a DDT but he is too wiped out to make a cover. The two begin to trade blows until Jarrett connects with a couple of clotheslines. Angle kicks out of a pin attempt and fights back with an overhead suplex and also gets a two count on Jarrett.

Angle looks to go for an Angle Slam, but Jarrett reverses it into another DDT. Jarrett sits Angle on the top turnbuckle and delivers a superplex on Angle. Jarrett drapes an arm over Angle, but it isn’t enough to keep him down. Jarrett then locks Angle in a figure four leg lock in the middle of the ring. Angle begins pulling his way over to the ropes and finally makes it to break the hold.

After the hold breaks, Angle is able to fight back with some German suplexes but it isn’t enough to keep Jarrett down. Angle then locks in the ankle lock in the middle of the ring. Jarrett tries to make it to the ropes but Angle pulls him back to the middle. Jarrett finally rolls Angle over to break the hold but Angle comes back with an Angle Slam, but Jarrett is able to kick out of the pin attempt. Angle climbs up to the top rope and misses with a moonsault from the top rope. Suddenly, the boring chants have turned into a “this is awesome!” chant.

Angle then misses Jarrett with a clothesline and knocks down referee Rudy Charles and Jarrett nails Angle with the Stroke. With the referee out, Foley comes into the ring to make the three count but Angle kicks out at the count of two. While Foley is tending to the referee, Angle nails Jarrett with a low blow before heading out to get a chair. Foley tries to stop him from bringing it in and Angle knocks him down with a chair shot to the head.

Angle then comes in and nails Jarrett with a chair and drags Rudy Charles over to make the count, but Foley drags Charles out of the ring. Foley then drops Angle with a right before putting on Mr. Socko and applies the mandible claw. Jarrett follows by smashing a guitar over Angle’s head and covers him as Foley makes the three count. Foley then raises Jarrett’s arm in victory.

A video package highlighting the feud between Samoa Joe and Sting airs and how they are fighting for respect and the TNA World Championship. The voiceover guy states that Sting has never lost at Bound for Glory and has won the title at the last two Bound for Glory events. Will Sting do it again for a third time? We’ll find out as that main event match is up next.

Match 8: Sting vs. Samoa Joe (TNA World Championship)
Jeremy Borash provides the match introductions for this match up. The bell rings and these two connect with several punches until Sting is dumped to the outside. Joe flies through the ropes and onto Sting making him crash into the guard railing. Joe and Sting begin to fight in the section that I am sitting in and make their way into the cheap seats.

Joe drags Sting up to the top of the seats and hops into a luxury box. Joe runs out of the box and performs a dropkick over the side and onto Sting who is standing on the steps. Joe and Sting begin making their way down the steps as Sting begins to battle back. They fight by my section again and I am clearly visible but facing towards the action with my sign.

Sting then dives on Joe from the hockey boards set up around the arena and takes out a row of chairs in the process. Sting stands on the boards once again and Joe knocks him down and crotches him on the boards. Joe follows with a big boot to Sting’s face. Joe drags Sting through my section again, where my web site gets some more free advertising, and sends Sting over the railing and next to the ring.

Joe picks up Sting and rolls him in the ring as we see some more advertising for The Hexagon Circle. A “Joe’s gonna kill you” chant starts as Joe begins to pick apart Sting. Joe puts Sting on the turnbuckle and looks like he is getting ready for the muscle buster but Sting counters it into a DDT. Sting then lands on Joe with a splash and picks up a two count.

Joe comes back with a powerbomb and picks up a two count of his own and follows up with an STF submission hold. Sting is able to slide near the ropes and get his foot on the rope to break the hold. Joe seems to start taking his time with Sting and gives him time to recover. Joe sends Sting into a corner and charges at him, but Sting sidesteps Joe and connects with a Stinger Splash.

Sting then sets up Joe in the corner and performs a bad version of the muscle buster and Joe pops right back up. Joe comes back with a few chops and delivers a Scorpion Death Drop and Sting pops right back up. Sting connects with a few rights and delivers two Stinger Splashes in the corner. Sting tries for a third and Joe catches him and slams Sting down to the mat.

Joe begins to slowly kick and beat Sting down. Earl Hebner begins counting Sting out for a 10-count but Joe breaks the count by assaulting Sting on the mat. Hebner pulls Joe off of Sting and they begin to argue as Kevin Nash makes his way down to the ring. Joe drives Sting down with a DDT and he begins to argue again with Hebner. With his back turned, Sting reaches for his bat but Nash takes it away.

As Joe runs against the ring ropes, Nash nails Joe in the back with the baseball bat. Sting then lands a Scorpion Death Drop on Joe and makes the cover to become the new TNA World Champion. After the pin fall, Nash walks up the ramp with the bat in his hand as Sting celebrates with the World Championship.
