WWE Forces TNA PPV Date Change
A few weeks ago, the WWE moved their year ending pay-per-view, Armageddon, up a week from its original scheduled date of December 21st to December 14th. Seeing as it was a few days away from the Christmas holiday, it was probably a good idea to change the date from a business standpoint.
It wasn’t good for everyone, though, as TNA was scheduled to also hold their annual Turning Point pay-per-view on the same night. With both scheduled for the 14th, wrestling fans of both promotions would have to choose which event they would want to put their hard earned money down on. At least that’s how it was until the cable companies got involved.
Chris Johnson reported tonight on Gerweck.net that the cable companies will not allow the two promotions to run wrestling pay-per-views on the same night. Due to this, TNA is being forced to change the date of their Turning Point pay-per-view to Armageddon’s old date of the 21st. The date change will give TNA a total of six weeks between their Genesis pay-per-view and Turning Point.
Having TNA change the date is probably in the best interest of the company as they already have low pay-per-view buy rates. Being in direct competition in the pay-per-view market against the WWE isn’t something that TNA would probably want to do. Any way you look at it, this is a raw deal for TNA, especially if this was WWE’s way of strong arming their way into a better date.
