My Thoughts on Destination X

The Destination X pay-per-view went from hot to hot garbage the further into the broadcast we went.  As usual, my picks were a paltry .500, but I shouldn’t expect any more from a garbage pay-per-view like this one.

The show opened with the three way match to decide the #1 contenders for the tag team gold.  When I made my original prediction, it was at a toss up between the LAX and the Motorcity Machine Guns and picked the latter due to their involvement with keeping the X Division afloat.  Not to mention, they haven’t had a chance to run with the gold like the LAX has, so I went with them and I got my first incorrect pick for the night.

I have no qualms with the LAX winning the match as they have been sorely missed in the tag team division as of late and I wouldn’t mind seeing them have another run with the titles.  At any rate, at least the Rock n’ Rave Infection didn’t win the opportunity and this was by far the best match of the night.  Unfortunately, it all started to go down from there.

I was wrong in my preview as I thought that if Team 3D lost they would be fired.  I guess that since they made the weight limit, the 275 pound stipulation is now removed.  Any way you slice it, the Fish Market Street Fight was horrendous.  I’m just glad that I wasn’t there in person to actually have to smell the aroma of the fish.  Even with that literal stinker of a match, little did I know was that the worst was yet to come in the form of Elevation X.

I would really hate to see Elevation X become a staple at the Destination X pay-per-view on a yearly basis.  At least this year’s match between Rhino and James Storm was short – of course, they were only on the scaffolding about half of the time, but when they were, it came across as being too similar as to what happened last year.  I know there are only so many things you can do during a match like this but at least try to mix it up a bit.

Last night, James Storm hid between the scaffolding and the fans helped guide Rhino to where he was at.  Last year, AJ Styles hid between the scaffolding and the fans helped guide Rhino to where he was at.  No, I didn’t just write the same sentence twice.  It would almost be like having a wrestler toss another wrestler off the top of the Hell in a Cell structure and through an announce table every time they had that type of match.

My prediction was right and Sharmell made her return to TNA and started whipping everything in site, even Jim Cornette.  Aside from whipping everyone in her path, her return didn’t surprise me at all.  What did surprise me, though, was that Booker T lost yet again to Robert Roode.  You would think that a man of his stature and caliber would be able to eventually beat Roode at some point.

Finally, there is Super Eric.  I’m not quite sure why he called Super Eric when he has EY written across his chest.  Shouldn’t there be an SE across his chest instead?  Just a thought.
