A child is heard singing children songs as we see the Six Sides of Steel set up around the ring with thunder and lightning. A woman then begins talking about the brutality of the steel cage and the horror that goes along with it. She says the cage can forever alter lives and careers as every man who enters will be less of a man when he leaves. God have mercy on their souls.
We then head into the Impact Zone as we are welcomed to the show by the announce team who says we are about to witness the most barbaric pay-per-view in history, Lockdown. The pyro goes off as we head to the announce table who hypes tonight’s card that will feature the heavyweights, the tag teams and the X Division. They then talk about the main event of Abyss against AJ Styles with the winner going on to Hard Justice for a shot at the NWA World Championship. Footage is then aired of Kevin Nash showing off his staph infection in his leg and he cannot compete tonight.
Match 1: Chris Candido & Lance Hoyt vs. Apolo & Sonny Siaki
The match starts and Siaki quickly takes Candido down and he awkwardly lands on his leg. Siaki covers but Candido kicks out as Lance Hoyt and Apolo are tagged in. Candido is seen laying on the ground in his corner as Apolo and Hoyt go at it in the cage. Candido is being helped out of the cage and is being brought to the back as Hoyt is being double teamed in the cage. Hoyt holds his own and slams Siaki to the mat and connects with a moonsault but Apolo breaks up the pin fall. Hoyt then sends Siaki into the cage and bashes his face into it.
Hoyt then slams Siaki to the mat as he goes for another moonsault but Siaki runs up the ropes and takes him down with an release overhead suplex. Apolo is then tagged in and he comes in and rams Hoyt’s head into the cage and connects with a superkick and nearly puts the match away. Mike Tenay informs us that Candido has a broken leg as Apolo and Siaki double team Hoyt in the cage. Siaki then hits a splash from the top rope and picks up the pin fall for his team.
After the match, the Naturals come out and blame Hoyt for what happened to Candido. Hoyt begins to choke Chase Stevens and Andy Douglas nails him from behind. The Naturals then send him into the cage a few times and continue to double team Hoyt and hit him with the Natural Disaster before leaving Hoyt lying in the cage.
Dusty Rhodes is backstage with Traci and Trinity and says there was a big brawl between AMW and Team Canada before they went on the air and AMW begged him for belts and he made turned their match into a strap match. Rhodes then has Traci choose and envelope to see who starts in Lethal Lockdown and it is Jeff Jarrett. Trinity then picks another one and it is Sean Waltman. These two will be the first ones in Lethal Lockdown that takes place later on tonight.
A video package is aired that highlights the recent feud between Dustin Rhodes and Team Canada. It is going to be Canada vs. the state of Texas as Roode goes against Rhodes in a Prince of Darkness Death Match, which is coming up next.
Match 2: Bobby Roode vs. Dustin Rhodes (Prince of Darkness Death Match)
Bobby Roode comes out to the cage with Scott D’Amore and A1. The bell rings as the first fall starts. Rhodes quickly takes Roode down with a back drop and begins to beat him down in the corner. Roode then grabs the referee to slow Rhodes’ momentum and then rolls up Rhodes for the pin fall while using the ropes for leverage to take the first fall.
The second fall immediately starts and Rhodes works over Roode and hits the Shattered Dreams. Rhodes then hits a superplex and sends Roode into the cage for a near fall. Rhodes continues to send Roode into the cage and hits a snap slam for yet another near fall. Rhodes tries to put Roode away with a bulldog but Roode counters and sends Rhodes flying across the ring. Roode goes on the offensive and begins to work over Rhodes’ ribs. Roode picks up a couple of near falls after hitting a back drop but Rhodes manages to kick out. Roode then goes for a slam but Rhodes reverses it into a pin fall but Roode kicks out.
Roode goes back on the attack and locks Rhodes in a submission hold but Rhodes fights his way out and slams Roode down to the mat. Rhodes then tries to send Roode into the cage but the door swings open. Rhodes then sends Roode into another side of the cage, but Roode is able to counter Rhodes’ offense and hits Rhodes with the Northern Lariat. Roode goes for the cover, but Rhodes is able to get his foot on the rope to break the count. Roode the tries for a back drop from the top rope, but Rhodes fights back and Rhodes hits a bulldog from the top rope to pick up the three count to win the second fall.
The black hoods are brought in to the match for the third fall as the referee puts the hoods on Roode and Rhodes. D’Amore begins to shout directions to Roode as the two stumble around the ring trying to feel for each other. The two back into each other but Roode shoves Rhodes away. The two then take out referee Rudy Charles with a clothesline and D’Amore uses this as an opportunity to send a chair into the ring.
D’Amore then opens the cage door and begins to head towards Rhodes with a hockey stick but Roode nails D’Amore with a chair. Roode then covers D’Amore and realizes that it isn’t Rhodes. Rhodes is able to find the steel chair as Cassidy Riley comes out to support Rhodes. Roode back into Rhodes and Rhodes nails him with the chair over the head. Rhodes then covers Roode as the referee recovers to make the three count.
Shane Douglas is backstage with Christopher Daniels and says he bleed buckets of blood inside the Six Sides of Steel to try to keep Triple X together. Now, as the X Division Champion, the X Division Title means more to him than Triple X ever did as Elix Skipper comes out and says the time is right and the world is watching before walking away. A video package that focuses on the competitors that will take part in the X Division Xscape Match, and that match is up next.
Match 3: Michael Shane vs. Sonjay Dutt vs. Chris Sabin vs. Shocker (X Division Xscape Match)
The match will be an elimination match until the final two remain where it will turn into an escape match. The match starts as Sabin and Dutt go at it with a series of chain wrestling until they both end up going for a dropkick with neither getting the advantage. Sabin finally hits Dutt with a hurricanrana as Shocker tags Dutt to get into the match. Shane is also tagged in and Shocker takes him down with a face plant before hitting a bulldog. Dutt tags himself back in as Dutt and Shocker hit a double team move as Dutt and Sabin begin to work together to wear Shane down.
Shane finally puts an end to Dutt’s offense by sending him into the cage and picks up a near fall after hitting a clothesline. Shane begins to wear down Dutt until Dutt comes back with a hurricanrana. Dutt tags Sabin into the match but Shane sends Sabin into the cage wall to pick up another near fall. Sabin is able to come back with a tornado DDT but he is too wore out to make the cover. Sabin crawls over and tags Shocker into the match and he hits a moonsault on Shane for a near fall. Shocker the tries to roll up Shane but Shane is able to kick out.
The match breaks down as there is a four man submission hold going on in the corner. Sabin then picks up Dutt and hits him with a running powerbomb but Shocker breaks up the pin attempt. Shocker then hits Sabin with a neckbreaker but Sabin is able to kick out. Sabin comes back and takes Shocker down with an enziguri and Dutt follows with the Hindu Press but Shane breaks up the pin fall. Shane then sends Dutt into the cage wall and hits a superkick but Shocker comes in and kicks Shane in the face. Shocker then hits Dutt with an elbow and picks up the pin fall to eliminate Dutt from the match.
Shocker then hits Shane with a gut buster and he heads to the top rope but Sabin tosses him down to the canvas. Shane and Sabin begin fighting on the top rope as Trinity begins to climb the side of the cage, however, Traci Brooks comes out and tries to stop her but Trinity kicks her down to the floor. Trinity then makes it to the top and moonsaults her way into the ring and takes everyone out. Traci then enters the cage through the door and she takes he out with a clothesline, but Shane sends her out to the floor. Sabin uses the distraction as an opportunity to hit Shane with the Cradle Shock to pick up the pin fall and eliminates Shane from the match.
We are down to the final two as it is now an elimination match between Sabin and Shocker. Shocker and Sabin both try to escape the cage as the two pull each other down. The two begin to fight on the top rope and both begin to drop down and crotch themselves on the top rope. They both begin to climb once more and they make it to the top and over to the other side. The two fight on the outside of the cage as they both drop down, and Shocker hits the floor first to win the match.
The announce team talks about Chris Candido breaking his leg earlier in the night as we are treated to slow motion replays of the injury. We then are treated to a preview of the upcoming tables match between Jeff Hardy and Raven. This match is coming up next.
Match 4: Raven vs. Jeff Hardy (Tables Match)
Tables are set up in the ring and Jeff Hardy brings a few chairs with him into the cage. The match starts and Hardy begins to assault Raven with a chair before using it as a springboard, however, Raven ducks out of the way and Hardy crashes into the cage. Raven begins to dish out punishment and sends Hardy into the chair with a drop toe hold. Raven then drops Hardy with the Raven Effect and sets Hardy up on a table but Hardy gets out of the way and Raven crashes through the table.
Hardy then picks up a chair and begins to use it on Raven before sending him into the cage and busting him open. Hardy then goes for a suplex but Raven blocks it and takes Hardy down with a suplex. They are both slow to get up as Hardy heads to the top rope but Raven catches up with him and both of them crash down to the mat. Hardy is able to recover and hits Raven with the Twist of Fate before setting up a table in the ring. Hardy puts Raven on the table as he begins to climb to the top of the cage. Hardy then goes for a Swanton Bomb but Raven moves and Hardy crashes through the table, which gets a “Holy shit!” chant started from the fans.
Raven gets up and nails Hardy with a chair and begins to drive his head into it. Raven takes a little time getting to the top rope and Hardy is able to send him crashing to the mat. Hardy begins to ram Raven’s head into the cage wall but Raven takes Hardy down with a low blow. Raven begins to grind a broken piece of a table into Hardy’s forehead, however, Hardy is able to turn the tide of the match by sending Raven into a chair with a drop toe hold. Hardy begins to climb to the top of the cage once again and Raven opens the door and crotches Hardy on the door. Hardy then sends the door into Raven and drops down onto him, but Raven is able to put up a boot to defend himself.
Raven begins to set up a few tables and begins to stack them on top of one another. Raven drags Hardy on to the ropes but Hardy fights him off and Raven falls onto the tables. Raven then climbs to the top of the cage and hits a double leg drop and drives Raven through the double stack of tables to win the match.
While the ring is cleared of all of the tables, we see a video package that highlights the feud between America’s Most Wanted and Team Canada. We see the bullet points for the match and the strap match for the NWA Tag Team Championship is up next.
Match 5: Team Canada vs. American’s Most Wanted (Strap Match for NWA Tag Team Championship)
A1 joins Petey Williams and Eric Young for this match as an American flag and a Canadian flag a hung from the corners of the match. The match starts and AMW corner Young on top of the cage but Williams is able to help out his partner. A1 gets involved a hits both Harris and Storm with the tag team title as the cage door is finally locked, however, Harris is still out on the floor. In the ring, Storm has been busted open as Williams and Young work together to wear him down. Meanwhile, A1 sends Harris into the guard railing to keep him out of the cage.
Young begins to choke Storm with a strap and continues to work him over to pick up a near fall. On the outside, A1 continues to work over Harris by sending him into the announce table. Williams grabs the American flag and hands it to Young and he begins to choke Storm with the flag pole and picks up another near fall. Storm finally begins to fight back and takes down both Williams and Young as Harris sends A1 into the guard railing on the outside. Harris tries to climb into the cage but Young runs into the cage wall and knocks Harris down to the floor. In the cage, Storm sends Williams into the cage and then trades blows with Young with the strap. The numbers game catches up with Storm, though, as Williams is able to come in and take Storm down with a DDT for a near fall.
Williams and Young begins to double team Storm as A1 chokes Harris on the outside. Harris comes back and catapults A1 into the cage before tossing him into the steps. Harris begins to climb the cage and finally makes it inside before taking out Young and Williams with a double clothesline from the top rope. Harris goes back and forth with Williams and Young and picks up a near fall after hitting a vertical suplex on Williams. AMW then double teams Young for another near fall. Williams helps out his partner as Young begins to climb the ropes while Williams puts Storm in the Sharpshooter and Young connects with an elbow. Williams then covers Storm but Storm is able to kick out.
Williams sets up for the Canadian Destroyer but Harris takes Williams out with a spear to pick up a near fall. Storm the connects with a superkick on Young and AMW tries for the Death Sentence but Williams pulls Young out of the way. A1 then hands Williams the hockey stick through the hole in the cage and nails Harris in the back and goes for the pin but Harris kicks out. A1 then hands Williams and bag of powder but Storm kicks it into Williams’ face. While he is blinded, Williams gives Young a mule kick and takes him out with the Canadian Destroyer. With Young out, AMW hits the Death Sentence on Williams and pick up the pin fall to retain the NWA Tag Team Championship.
The announce team talks about the history of Triple X and how they are now enemies. A video package is aired that shows us how Triple X came to an end and how their paths crossed in a four way match last month at Against All Odds, where Christopher Daniels turned his back on Elix Skipper and won the X Division Championship for the first time in his career. Daniels first title defense will be against his former tag team partner. The announce team runs down the bullet points as we the X Division Title is on the line and that match is next.
Match 6: Elix Skipper vs. Christopher Daniels (X Division Championship)
The match starts as these former partners go back and forth and counter each others moves in the opening moments. Skipper finally knocks Daniels down and hits a couple of suplexes for a near fall. Daniels is able to counter Skipper’s offense and sends him into the cage wall, which gives Daniels time to regroup. Skipper begins to hold his arm as Daniels sees this as an opportunity and begins to focus on Skipper’s arm. Daniels continues on the attack and picks up a near fall but Skipper is able to kick out. Daniels then puts Skipper in an cross arm breaker before picking up another near fall after hitting a hammerlock slam.
Skipper tries to fight back and slams Daniels to before connecting with a few punches and kicks. Skipper then slams Daniels down before hitting a leg drop from the top rope to pick up a near fall over the champion. Skipper then continues on the attack but his momentum is stalled by his injured arm. Daniels then takes Skipper down and hits the BME for a near fall. Daniels begins climbing to the top of the cage but Skipper gets up and crotches Daniels on top of the cage. Skipper then climbs to the top but Daniels drops down to the canvas. Skipper then leaps from the top of the cage and takes out both Daniels and the referee. Skipper is able to cover Daniels but Daniels is able to kick out.
Skipper tries to continue but his shoulder stops him once more as Daniels takes him down and tries for the Angel’s Wings but Skipper is able to counter and tries for the Sudden Death but Daniels grabs the ropes to block the move. Daniels then turns it into the Angel’s Wings for the pin fall and Daniels retains the X Division Title.
Dusty Rhodes is backstage and picks out a name for the third entrant for the Lethal Lockdown match and it is the Outlaw. We then see a video package on the Lethal Lockdown match and the events leading up to it. The Lethal Lockdown match is coming up next.
Match 7: Team Nash vs. Team Jarrett (Lethal Lockdown)
Sean Waltman and Jeff Jarrett are the first two competitors in the ring for Lethal Lockdown. As shown earlier, Kevin Nash isn’t able to compete tonight and the announce team wonders who will take his place. Waltman attacks Jarrett on the entrance ramp as Waltman nails Jarrett with a garbage can and the two begin to brawl through the crowd as the five minute timer begins to count down. Jarrett comes back and nails Waltman with a trash can and a cookie sheet as they make their way to the ringside area. The two begin to fight on the announce table and Waltman takes him down with a kick and a cross body block. Waltman misses with a chair as Jarrett hits Waltman and rolls him into the ring.
The two begin to fight inside the cage as Waltman tosses Jarrett into the cage wall a few times and nails him with a trash can. Waltman then misses with the Bronco Buster as the time counts down and the Outlaw is the next one out. Waltman is able to cold his own against the Outlaw and Jarrett but the two on one advantage is too much for Waltman as the Outlaw begins to nails Waltman with a trash can lid and Jarrett repeatedly hits Waltman with a cookie sheet. The two minute time expires as Diamond Dallas Page comes out to even the odds.
DDP comes out with a kendo stick and goes after Jarrett and the Outlaw. DDP sends Jarrett into the side of the cage a couple of times until the Outlaw takes him down with a trash can lid. DDP is able to fight back and takes the Outlaw and Jarrett down with a double clothesline and DDP tries for a Diamond Cutter but the Outlaw is able to counter with a mule kick as the timer expires and Monty Brown is the next one out. Brown comes out with a baseball bat and nails DDP and Waltman with it as Team Jarrett works together to beat down their opponents.
The countdown expires and BG James comes out as Nash’s replacement. Jarrett goes out to the floor and James takes him out with a trash can and ends up knocking over a camera man in the process. James goes in and starts swinging a cookie sheet around and he even takes out the referee in the process. James and the Outlaw stand and stare at each other and James refuses to hit the Outlaw. Brown then gives Waltman and James a Pounce and goes for the cover but DDP breaks it up. DDP then takes Jarrett down with a Diamond Cutter but the Outlaw breaks up the pin fall.
The Outlaw then tries for the Fameasser on DDP but Waltman nails the Outlaw with a spin kick before he can do it. Brown then hits a double Pounce on DDP and James and Brown goes after Waltman but Waltman counters and picks up the pin fall to win the match for Team Nash. Team Jarrett is cleared from the ring as the Outlaw and BG James share a few words between the cage wall.
The announce team hypes tonight’s main event between AJ Styles and Abyss. A video package is then aired which shows the events leading up to this #1 contenders match and a shot at Jeff Jarrett for the NWA World Championship next month at Hard Justice.
Match 8: AJ Styles vs. Abyss (#1 Contenders Match for NWA World Championship)
Styles jumps over the ropes and through the cage door and takes Abyss out on the floor as he is making his way to the ring. Abyss tries to send Styles into the guard railing but Styles slides under the railing. Styles then jumps off the railing and takes Abyss down with a hurricanrana before sending Abyss into the railing and the announce table. The two continue to fight around the ringside area and Abyss again tries to send Styles into the railing but Styles uses it to springboard over five rows of fans and dives out onto Abyss. Styles finally makes a mistake and lands out in the crowd as the two begin to fight their way through the stands.
Abyss dumps Styles over to the ringside area and the two begin to brawl around the ring. Styles is about to enter the cage and Abyss swings the door at Styles and takes him down after it nails Styles in the face. Styles has been busted open after that and Abyss begins to focus on his forehead to bust him open some more. Abyss rolls Styles into the ring and grabs a chain and a bag of tacks before heading into the cage. Abyss places a chair into the corner and then wraps the chain around Styles’ neck but Styles is able to get loose from the chain, however, Abyss quickly takes him down with a big boot.
Abyss starts to wrap the chain around a turnbuckle and sends Styles face first into the chain. Styles is wearing the proverbial crimson mask as Abyss continues to dominate Styles as he tosses Styles head first into the cage walls a few times. Abyss picks up a near fall before he grabs the chain and puts it on the mat. Abyss goes for a press slam onto the chain but Styles counters and drives Abyss into the chain with a DDT. Both are slow to get to their feet, however, Styles is able to take Abyss down with a kick and a hurricanrana. Abyss then charges at Styles but Styles sidesteps him and Abyss crashes into the chair he earlier placed into the corner.
Styles then hits Abyss with a German suplex but Abyss kicks out of the pin attempt. Abyss comes back and tries for a chokeslam but Styles counters with a roll up for another near fall. Styles then charges at Abyss but Abyss grabs him and takes him down with the Black Hole Slam, but Style is able to kick out. Abyss then grabs his back of tacks and spreads them across the mat and goes for another Black Hole Slam but Styles is able to escape. Abyss then tries for a powerbomb into the tacks but Styles again counters and drives Abyss into the tacks with a Styles Clash. The fans start a “Holy shit!” chant as Styles covers but Abyss kicks out.
A “This is awesome!” chant starts as Styles heads to the top of the cage. Abyss sees this and shoves the referee into the cage wall that knocks Styles down as he is able to grab the top of the cage so he doesn’t fall all the way down to the floor. Abyss grabs the chain and wraps it around Styles’ neck and begins to choke Styles as he is hanging from the top of the cage. Styles tries to get back into the cage by biting Abyss’ hand and he floats over Abyss and drives him to the mat and into the tacks with a powerbomb. Styles then crawls over to Abyss to pick up the pin fall and earn a shot at the NWA World Championship against Jeff Jarrett. Styles celebrates his victory and the announce thanks us for watching as Lockdown comes to a close.
