Final Resolution (1/16 PPV Recap)

Final Resolution opens with a video package that focuses on the big matches on tonight’s card and the voiceover guy says a journey of sacrifice will take place tonight. We are then welcomed to the show by the announce team as the pyro goes off. Mike Tenay and Don West hype tonight’s card that will feature three title bouts, which includes the winner of the triple threat elimination match going on to face Jeff Jarrett later on tonight.

Shane Douglas is backstage and is meets up with the NWA World Champion, Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett says DDP doesn’t have it and Monty Brown has bitten off more than he can chew. As for Nash, he will realize that he is that he is 12 inches tall when he is flat on his back. Jarrett tells Dusty Rhodes that his plan will fail tonight as he will remain the NWA World Champion at the end of the night.

Match 1: Kazarian/Michael Shane/Christopher Daniels vs. 3Live Kru (Six-Man Tag Team Match)
Konnan and Daniels go at it in the opening moments as Konnan grounds Daniels and takes him out with a clothesline. Shane enters the ring and ends up being triple teamed by the 3Live Kru before Ron Killings works him over for a bit. Shane finally counters with a jawbreaker and tags in Kazarian. Truth quickly takes Kazarian down and BG James is tagged in as James and Truth hits some double team moves before Kazarian runs out of the ring. James follows him and Kazarian runs back in and tags Daniels.

James doesn’t know Daniels was tagged as Daniels takes him down with a dropkick from behind. James is isolated into their corner as they make quick tags to wear James down. James is able to counter Daniels’ offense with a powerbomb and makes the hot tag to Killings. Truth comes in and takes everyone down and picks up a two count on Shane after hitting an axe kick. The match breaks down with everyone in the ring as everyone ends up being laid out. The referee starts the 10 count as they all return to their feet and continue to battle. 3Live Kru clears the ring and they hit a triple team kick on Shane to pick up the pin fall.

Dusty Rhodes is sitting in the back of a truck with Traci and Trinity with Johnny Fairplay. Rhodes says there are two survivors and one will leave. Rhodes says there is only one clue left and once they find it, bring it back to the office and the winner will be his personal secretary.

Match 2: Elix Skipper vs. Sonjay Dutt
The match starts as the two go back and forth for a few moments before Dutt picks up a few quick near falls. Dutt then spins around Skipper’s body for a bit before sending him out to the floor. Dutt follows him out and takes Skipper out after Dutt used the guard railing as a springboard and crashes into Skipper. Back in the ring, Dutt continues to work over Skipper and begins to wear down Skippers arm. Dutt then sets up for a Hindu Press but Skipper gets to his feet and kicks him off the top rope and onto the floor.

Skipper goes after Dutt and crotches him on the guard railing before kicking Dutt off of it. The action returns to the ring and Skipper works over Dutt with a series of kicks. Skipper then tries for the Play of the Day, but Dutt counters it. Dutt then tries for a moonsault but Skipper lifts his knees to counter it. Skipper then slams Dutt to the mat and follows with a clothesline. Skipper puts Dutt on the top turnbuckle but Dutt is able to counter and powerbombs Skipper to the mat.

They both slowly make it to their feet as Dutt hits Skipper with a series of clotheslines and picks up a near fall after hitting a back drop. Dutt then connects with a tornado DDT but Skipper is able to kick out of another pin attempt. Dutt goes for another Hindu press but Skipper rolls out of the way as Skipper hits the POD to pick up the pin fall.

Kevin Nash is backstage with DDP and Nash tells Page that he wants to work smarter, not harder, at his age. He suggests that they do it together and take out Monty Brown, take a short break, and then have a match like gentlemen. Page isn’t sure if he should trust Nash but Nash promises not to lay a hand on page until Brown is out of the match.

A video package focusing on the friction between Dustin Rhodes and Kid Kash is aired. The grudge match between these two is up next.

Match 3: Kid Kash vs. Dustin Rhodes
The bell rings and Rhodes levels Kash with a couple of clotheslines and sends him out to the floor. The match returns to the ring where Rhodes uses his size advantage over Kash to work him over. Kash begins to favor his knee and the referee checks on him but Kash was playing possum and takes control of the match. Kash begins to wear down Rhodes’ leg with some kicks and a leg lock. Kash continues to work over the leg of Rhodes and hits it with a knee drop and a frog splash before putting Rhodes in a figure four leg lock. Rhodes refuses to give up and ends up reversing the hold but Kash is able to break the hold.

Kash continues on the attack by putting Rhodes in a sleeper hold but Rhodes fights out of it and levels Kash with a series of clotheslines and a classic Rhodes uppercut. Rhodes then tries for an atomic drop but his knee gives out. Kash tries for a cross body block but Rhodes is able to roll through and nearly puts the match away. Rhodes then tries for his finisher but Kash counters and connects with an enziguri. Kash picks up a near fall but Rhodes kicks out and Kash pushes referee Andrew Thomas for the count but Thomas pushes back. Rhodes then hits Kash with a bulldog and covers as the referee does a quick count to give Rhodes the victory.

Johnny Fairplay is seen in the office and picks up Dusty Rhode’s hat. He finds the clue hidden in the hat and says he is staying in TNA as he says he is going out to find Rhodes.

A video package that highlights tonight’s triple threat elimination match and how that match came to be. Footage of recent Impact episodes are aired as the announce team hypes the match once more. We then see footage of the history between Erik Watts and Raven and how Raven thinks he has Watts wrapped around his finger. The grudge match between these two are up next.

Match 4: Raven vs. Erik Watts
Watts comes out to the ring with a chair but Raven quickly takes him down as he gets into the ring. Raven sends Watts out to the floor and rams him into the guard railing with a couple of Russian leg sweeps into the railing. Raven rolls Watts into the ring and continues to wear him down before tossing him out to the floor once more. Raven continues dishing out the punishment before it returns to the ring where Watts finally hits an backwards dropkick from the ropes.

Raven leaves the ring and begins walking back up the ramp as Watts follows him and knocks him down. Watts brings Raven to the ringside area and sends Raven into the guard railing a few times before crouching him. The match returns to the ring where Watts takes Raven down with a chokeslam. Watts brings a chair into the ring but the referee pulls it away and gives Raven a moment to nail Watts with a low blow.

Raven sets up a chair between the ropes and flings Watts into it. Raven then goes for a drop toe hold onto a chair but Watts counters and sends Raven face first into the chair. Watts then continues on the attack and powerbombs Raven into the turnbuckle and he earns a two count. Watts goes for a chokeslam but Raven counters and locks Watts in a leg lock. Watts is able to power out of the move but Raven takes him down with a superkick for another near fall. Watts takes Raven down with a drop toe hold and goes for a chokeslam but Raven blocks it. Watts then his a chokeslam to pick up the win.

After the match, Raven apologizes to Watts for his actions and calls Watts his only friend. Raven tells Watts sorry and he walks up the ramp with a garbage can and nails Watts with it. Security comes out and separates the two as we head to the announce table. Mike Tenay hypes next month’s pay-per-vew before hyping tonight’s match some more. Rowdy Roddy Piper’s bagpipe music hits and we head into the next match of the night.

Match 5: Scott Hall vs. Jeff Hardy (w/ Rowdy Roddy Piper as Referee)
Prior to the match, Piper checks Hall for foreign objects and pulls out a few of them, including a chain. The bell rings and Hall decides to check Piper and pulls out a pair of handcuffs. Hardy starts out strong and takes Hall down with a few kicks, however, Hall is able to catch Hardy and takes him down with a fallaway slam for a two count. Hall begins to yell at Piper for a slow count as Hardy rolls him up and gets a quick count from Piper but Hall kicks out.

Hall retreats to the floor and Hardy dives over the ropes and takes him out. Hardy sends Hall into the steps before rolling him back into the ring and connecting with a double leg drop. Hall begins to fight back with some elbows and clotheslines before paint brushing Hardy and stomping on him. Hall then slams Hardy to the mat and picks up a slow two count from Piper. Hall then tosses Hardy into Piper and retrieves a pair of brass knuckles hiding in the turnbuckle. Before Hall can use them, Piper pokes him in the eye as Hardy hits the Twist of Fate and the Swanton Bomb and picks up the pin fall.

After the match, Hardy says he is going to start kicking some ass around this place and he is going to start by going after the King of the Mountain, Jeff Jarrett. Hardy continues to attack Hall after the match and Piper tells him that he has a shot at the title and to get out of the ring while he can. Abyss then comes into the ring and slams Hardy down before taking him down with the Black Hole Slam. Security comes out and pulls Hardy out of the ring as Abyss stands alone and poses for the crowd.

Traci is backstage and tells a backstage hand if he knows where any of Dusty Rhodes’ clue is. Traci begins to flirt with him while Trinity comes in and tells Traci that Dusty needs to see them and sends Traci off before trying to get the clue out of the stagehand but she comes up empty handed.

Match 6: Monty Brown vs. Kevin Nash vs. Diamond Dallas Page (3-Way Elimination Match for a Shot at the NWA World Championship)
The bell rings as Page goes after Brown while Nash stands back and watches. DDP tries for an early Diamond Cutter but Brown is able to push him away. DDP gets Nash to get involved in the match as Nash and Brown lock up. DDP rests in the corner as Brown knocks Nash to his feet after a series of punches but Nash grabs Brown and sends him into the turnbuckle. Nash then takes Brown down with a side slam and gets near fall.

The announce team tells us that there are three ways to be eliminated from the match, which is by pin fall, submission and be thrown over the top rope. Nash rolls out to the floor as DDP goes back on the attack on Brown but Brown is able to counter with a DDT and picks up a near fall but Nash breaks up the three count. DDP and Nash begin to double team Brown but Nash turns on DDP and charges at him but DDP gives Nash a back drop over the top rope to eliminate Nash from the match.

It is now just Brown and DDP left and DDP is able counter Brown’s offense by hitting a Diamond Cutter, however, Nash pulls DDP out of the ring as he is trying to pin Brown. DDP and Brown both try for some roll ups but neither can keep the other one down. Brown hits DDP with a couple of clotheslines and takes DDP down with a fallaway slam and nearly picks up a pin fall after hitting a power slam. DDP is able to finally counter with a back elbow and goes for a Diamond Cutter but Brown counters by turning it into a Pounce and picks up the pin fall victory.

After the match, Brown holds out his hand and picks DDP up and shakes his hand. Because of the victory, Brown has earned a shot at the NWA World Championship against Jeff Jarrett later on tonight.

A video package for the match between Team Canada and AMW for the NWA Tag Team Championship is aired. Footage from Impact is aired which shows how AMW earned a shot for the titles. It is now time for the first of three title matches for the night as the announce team runs down the bullet points for the match. Mike Tenay wonders if AMW can go from the Six Sides of Steel to their sixth NWA Tag Team Title reign on this very night.

Match 7: Team Canada vs. America’s Most Wanted (NWA Tag Team Championship)
Scott D’Amore huddles with Team Canada to talk some strategy as AMW attacks them on the entrance ramp and near the announce table. AMW is on the offensive and they are sending both Bobby Roode and Eric Young into the guard railing. Chris Harris finally rolls Young in the ring to get this match started in the ring. It doesn’t last long as Harris flings Young out to the floor a couple of times as we see a huge knot on the top of Young’s head. Young starts walking back up the ramp but AMW stop him and bring him back into the match.

Storm comes into the ring and AMW tosses Young out to the floor and on top of Roode. D’Amore checks on his team as Storm goes out and rolls Roode into the ring. Storm goes in and takes Roode down with a back drop and a clothesline efore picking up a near fall after hitting a hurricanrana. Young knees Storm from the apron to turn the match into their favor as Roode lays Storm out with a spinning neckbreaker. Young is tagged back into the match as he begins to wear down Storm before turning it back over to Roode who picks up a near fall after hitting a brainbuster.

Team Canada isolates Storm to their side of the ring and continue to wear him down but they cannot put Storm away. Storm is able to counter Team Canada’s offense and knocks both Roode and Young down with enziguris. Storm begins to crawl to his corner but Roode runs over and knocks Harris down off the apron. Roode then slams Storm down to the mat and Young hits an elbow drop from the top rope but Storm is able to kick out of the pin attempt.

Young and Roode continue to wear down Storm with tags in and out of the match. Storm finally counters Roode’s offense and makes the hot tag to Harris. Harris comes in and takes out both members of Team Canada with a series of moves. Harris then takes Young down with a high vertical suplex but only gets a two count as Roode breaks it up. The match breaks down with all four in the ring and AMW sets up for the Death Sentence but Young stops them. Bodies start flying everywhere before Storm connects with a superkick on Roode but D’Amore pulls out the referee.

AMW go after D’Amore in the ringside area and handcuff him to the Ultimate X structure. Back in the ring, AMW double team Young and nearly put the match away but Young iso able to kick out. AMW again tries to set up for the Death Sentence but Johnny Devine comes out and distracts them. Harris chases after Devine but Roode ends up leveling him with a clothesline out on the floor. Meanwhile, Storm connects with the Eye of the Storm on Young but Devine runs in and breaks a hockey stick over Storm’s back. Devine drapes Young over Storm and the referee begins to count but Storm kicks out.

The match begins to break down once again and AMW nearly picks up the pin fall after hitting a double team move on Roode but he is able to kick out. The crowd begins a “bullshit!” chant as Young hits the Catatonic on Young but the referee is distracted and isn’t able to make the count. Devine then slides a chair into the ring and Harris grabs it but Roode catches him from behind with a clothesline, which sends Harris’ face into the chair. Young makes the cover but Harris is able to get his foot on the rope. Young then tries to get Devine’s attention but he hits Young with a chair as he had his back turned. Harris then rolls Young up and picks up the pin fall to win the match.

AMW begins to celebrate their victory as they are the new NWA Tag Team Champions. Devine also celebrates before he finally figures out that he cost Team Canada the match.

Johnny Fairplay is in the parking lot and shows both Traci and Trinity the hat that has the clue in it. They both take him down and they end up tearing the clue in half before running to Dusty Rhodes who is sitting in his truck. Rhodes tells them both to bring them a tag team that hasn’t wrestled here before and the one who brings the best team will become his personal secretary. The two run off as Rhodes spots Fairplay crawling in the parking lot.

The ring is being prepared for Ultimate X as we see a video package that focuses on the Ultimate X match between Petey Williams, Chris Sabin and AJ Styles for the X Division Title. The package features footage of all three competitors as the announce team runs down the bullet points for the match as we head into the Ultimate X match.

Match 8: Chris Sabin vs. Petey Williams vs. AJ Styles (Ultimate X for X Division Title)
Scott D’Amore once again is in the ringside area to be in the corner for the champion, Petey Williams. The match starts with all three going at it before both Styles and Sabin work together against Williams. Williams is knocked out of the ring as Sabin and Styles lock up before Styles tries to jump at the title from the top rope but comes up short. Williams then trips up Sabin and drags him out to the floor as Styles dives over the top rope and takes them both out, which earns a “Holy shit!” chant from the crowd.

Styles goes back in the ring and begins climbing the structure but Sabin cuts him off and hits a dropkick from the top rope to knock Styles down. Sabin then jumps to the cable and begins making his way over but Scott D’Amore comes in and grabs him as Williams comes in and pulls him down. The referee then ejects D’Amore from the ringside area as Williams has to stop D’Amore from attacking the referee. D’Amore finally heads down the tunnel as Williams goes back to the ringside area and sends Styles into the steel structure.

Williams then goes into the ring and hits Sabin with a series of suplexes before putting Sabin into a sharpshooter. Styles then sneaks in and tries to make his way across the cable but Williams pull him down and hits Styles with a back drop. Williams sends Sabin out to the floor but Styles comes back and levels Williams with a kick. Sabin and Styles then begin to pull each other down from climbing the structure as Williams begins to climb across. Styles has Sabin on his shoulders as Williams takes Sabin down with a hurricanrana.

All three are laid out on the canvas and Williams is the first one up and begins climbing the structure. Styles ask climbs and the two meet in the middle. Williams begins hanging from his legs as Sabin gets up and pulls Styles down. Styles takes out Sabin and tries to hit Williams with a flying forearm but he misses, however, Williams loses his grip and falls down to the canvas. Sabin begins making his way over and Styles tries to stop him but Sabin sends him crashing to the mat with a hurricanrana. The crowd begins a “This is awesome!” chant as Williams and Sabin begin to counter each others moves and Styles comes in and ends up hitting a double inverted DDT on both of them.

Styles begins making his way across the cable but Sabin flies off the top rope and hits him with a dropkick as Styles flips around and lands on his back. Williams then levels Sabin with a clothesline and takes him out to the floor as Styles is still laid out on the mat. Williams begins climbing the structure as Styles meets up with him as they trade blows on the structure. Williams ends up pulling Styles’ arm through the structure and crushes his arm as Styles gets stuck before falling to the ringside area. Back in the ring, Sabin ends up hitting the Cradle Shock on Williams before making his way towards the title.

Styles comes in and pulls Sabin down and tries for the Styles Clash but he ends up hitting a powerbomb first before hitting a modified Styles Clash. With Williams and Sabin out on the mat, Styles begins to climb across the cables and slowly makes his way to the title. He almost makes it but he ends up falling after trying to grab the X Division Title. Williams then nails Styles with the Canadian Destroyer before he hits Sabin with a tornado DDT. Williams begins to climb up the structure but Sabin interferes and tosses Williams into the opposite corner with a running powerbomb.

Sabin begins to climb the structure on one side as Williams goes up on the opposite side. The two make their way to the title as they begin to fight for possession of the belt. Styles then jumps in off the ropes and snatches the title from their hands and wins the match by pulling the title down and becomes the new X Division Champion.

Jeff Jarrett comes out of his dressing room and crosses paths with Kevin Nash and they get into an argument. Nash tells Jarrett that he will be coming after him as security has to hold Nash back. The announce team runs down the tale of the tape which shows they are almost equal in size but Jarrett has the advantage in terms of experience.

Match 9: Monty Brown vs. Jeff Jarrett (NWA World Championship)
Jeremy Borash handles the formal introductions for the Final Resolution main event as security and referees have to separate Jarrett and Brown. The match starts and Jarrett hits the first move by taking Brown down with a dropkick. Jarrett begins to showboat a bit and even mocks Brown with his ring antics and Brown retaliates with a press slam. Brown then takes Jarrett down with a hip toss and a power slam to pick up a near fall. Brown picks up another near fall after hitting Jarrett in the midsection with a head butt.

Brown then charges at Jarrett and he goes falling out to the floor. Jarrett then dives at Brown but Brown catches him and drops Jarrett across his knee. Brown then lifts Jarrett on his shoulder but Jarrett escapes and shoves Brown into the ring post and the guard railing. The fight then heads out to the crowd where Jarrett nails Brown with a steel chair a couple of times as they make their way back to the ringside area. Jarrett then slams Brown into the announce table before picking up one of the broadcaster chair and crushes Brown with it.

Jarrett grabs the NWA World Championship but referee Rudy Charles grabs it from him as the fight returns to the ring. Jarrett locks Brown in a sleeper hold and drops the challenger to his knees. Brown begins to fight out of it and puts Jarrett in a sleeper hold of his own but Jarrett quickly gets out. Jarrett then tries for the figure four but Brown counters into small package but Jarrett kicks out. The two begin to counter each other as they both take each other down with shoulder blocks. The referee begins the 10 count as they both get to their feet and begin trading blows.

Brown finally takes Jarrett down with a powerbomb and covers the champion and nearly puts him away. Brown continues on the attack and hits the Circle of Life but Jarrett again kicks out in time. Jarrett gets in some offense and tries for the Stroke but Brown shoves him away and into the referee. Brown goes on the attack but Jarrett catches him with a boot before grabbing his guitar and smashes it over Brown’s head. It takes a while, but Brown finally falls down as Jarrett covers but Brown kicks out.

Jarrett then grabs a chair and Brown picks up Jarrett on his shoulders. Jarrett smashes the chair to his face and Brown falls down but he is still able to kick out of the pin attempt. With the referee being slow to recover, Jarrett grabs the World Championship and nails Brown in the head with it but he still kicks out of the pin attempt. Brown gets his second wind and sets up Jarrett for the Pounce but Jarrett moves out of the way and Brown nails the referee.

Jarrett then grabs a second guitar hidden under the ring but Brown counters and slams Jarrett down with a chokeslam. Brown then grabs the guitar and smashes it over Jarrett’s head and he makes the cover but the referee is out. A second referee slides in and makes the count but Jarrett kicks out. Referee Andrew Thomas checks on Rudy Charles as Jarrett uses what’s left of a guitar on Brown. Jarrett then hits Brown with three Strokes before picking up the pin fall over Brown to retain the NWA World Championship.

Jarrett celebrates with the NWA World Championship and mouths to the camera “let’s go Nash!” as Final Resolution comes to a close.
